A FAMILLE ROSE TURQUOISE-GROUND EWER AND COVER the cylindrical body divided into four sections by raised lime-green bands embellished with flowerheads, each horizontal register enamelled in brilliant tones with formal lotus and other exotic flowers, each issuing curled leaves, tendrils and smaller blooms, with an additional bat in flight suspending a musical stone under the crown-shaped trim embellished with a raised gilt border, twin-fish knotted with a tasselled ribbon suspending from an endless knot below the moulded phoenix-head spout with cloud-form strut, opposite the spotted dragon-shaped handle, the domed cover with a pink Buddhist lion forming the finial, bears iron red seal mark. 45cm highOverall in good condition. No chips, cracks or restoration.

Stone, was an English silversmith. Born in 1903, his work is famous for its handcrafted style. When he was 14, Stone enrolled at the Central School of Arts in London; during his time with the school, he won a scholarship from the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. He founded his workshop in 1929, and some of his most famous work includes the various products he manufactured to commemorate George V’s Silver Jubilee in 1935. Stone’s work is distinctive for being largely handmade, and he was noted for stamping his work with a facsimile signature, as in this example. He died in 1990, and his items are now in very great demand among collectors
