"for B,D,D and M from Aunt Jane" (Emily Jane Suffield, Tolkien`s Aunt who had famously passed letters between Tolkien`s mother and father when they were initially `courting`. Tolkien had stayed with Jane after his father died and his mother was ill and her cottage in the Cotswolds was the inspiration for the residence of Bilbo Baggins. The presentees are Bertram and Dorothy Stone, and their 2 sons, who also regarded Jane as their aunt.) (see illustration)
