* HAZEL NAGL RGI RSW PAI (SCOTTISH b 1953), AUTUMN STILL LIFEwatercolour on paper, signed56cm x 78cmMounted, framed and under glass.Note: Hazel Nagel is a graduate of Glasgow School of Art, where she studied Drawing and Painting. Following graduation, she lived and worked at the Art School’s workshop at Culzean Castle where she developed an interest in landscape painting in response to the varied and dramatic surroundings. She is widely known for her still life and landscape paintings, her preoccupations being imparting a sense of space and light and an expressive impulse. She handles watercolour superbly, layering veils of translucent colour through her work. In 1988 she was elected to the RSW and to the RGI in 2000. She has won a number of awards including the RGI - Sir Alexander Stone Prize, RGI - Mabel Mackinlay Award, RGI - Eastwood Publications Award, SAAC Prize, PAI Prize, 1st Prize Laing Competition. She exhibits widely and has work in a number of Public Collections including The Fleming Collection (London), The Royal Bank of Scotland, Glasgow University, Common Market Enterprises, Combined Capital and Scottish & Newcastle Breweries.
Rowling (J.K), a signed box set of Harry Potter books in single five volume publishers card slip case: London; Bloomsbury Publishing PLC, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, 1997, 34th impression, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, 1998, 34th impression, Harry Potter and the Prisoner pf Azkaban, 1999, 33rd impression, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, 27th impression, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, 2003, 1st edition, all signed to half-title page, original boards, dust jackets. Provenance: Sold with a photocopy of a typed statement on J.K.Rowlings headed paper dated 30 March 2004 stating that "She is delighted to donate a signed box set of the Harry Potter books to be auctioned for fundraising for Friends of Midlothian's Children", signed Fiddy Henderson P.A to J.K.Rowling. - the vendor being the successful bidder at this event. A collection of Asian jewellery, to include: A late 19th/early 20th century Chinese silver mounted carved ivory brooch, fashioned as two figures among trees, length 57mm, together with a Chinese jade pendant, length 22mm, suspended from a silver bead chain, an Indian oval yellow metal brooch, with carved ivory of Ganesh to centre, bordered by turquoise cabochons (one lacking), a pair of silver filigree and cloisonne enamel earrings, set red cabochon stone to centre (as found) and a dress ring. A 9ct. white gold, aquamarine and lapiz lazuli brooch, set large single octagon cut aquamarine to centre flanked by to cabochon lapiz lazuli rings, hallmarked London 1987, length 44mm, together with a similar pair of 9ct. white gold aquamarine earrings, each claw set single octagon cut aquamarine, clip fitting. hallmarked London 1993, (each stone approx. 17.5 x 12.5 x 8mm, total approx. 33.0 carats).
