Lot 782

This set is an extremely rare surviving complete example of an Indian quiver with the bow and arrows. The quiver itself is made of animal hide. The leather is still supple in many spots and rigid in others. It is sewn with sinew. The quiver is complete with separate sections for the bow and arrows. The quiver still has most of the shoulder strap, although now split. There are still fringe at the end of the piece. There are some areas of loss and holing in the leather. There are also period repairs to the quiver, which alone measures around 44 inches long. The bow is of simple design made from one piece of shaped wood. There is a hide string attached to the bow, which could be the original. The bow has typical signs of age with some minor expanding along the grain. It is still very stable. Measures 46 inches long. There are 4 arrows in the quiver. There is a set of 3 stone arrow head point examples attached using sinew. The points are in great shape. The feathers are also complete and in good condition. There is original red paint around the shafts of the arrows. These measure around 27 inches long. The other arrow is has more wear. It is a metal point also attached with sinew. The feathers are lacking but some of the red paint is still present. This example measures 22.5 inches long. Good overall, leather shows some holes and is brittle.

Lot 821

Manufactured 1848-1849. The chest itself measures 14 inches long x 7-1/2 inches wide x 7 inches tall. It dates to the mid 1800s. The box has most of the brass tacks still present. Has initials TS on the lid. The lid is detached and the handle is missing a few pieces, which are in the box. Scattered areas of losses and wear. Other pieces include 2 shot flasks, one fabric, one leather, a tin cup with lid, a small iron signal cannon, a pewter button marked Mas II Reg, a weight set in original box (missing some pieces), skinning knife, small round grinding stone, tin cap box, tin candle holder, horn cup, small powder horn, early lead & iron fishing lure, folding iron bullet making ladle, rifleman shot block with some original musket balls & fabric (used for fast loading). Serial Number-.;

Lot 847

Probably mid-19th century. The stone club retains most of the original red ochre paint. The piece is covered entirely in hide. Some stitching has loosened at the bottom. Early rope and piece with brass tack, probably used to tie around the hand during battle. Measures 16 ¾ inches long. The spiked war club has a forged iron spike attached to the original wood handle. Head is pitted with dark patina. There is a slight burn band decoration near the top. Measures 20 ¾ inches long.
