An Art Deco ruby and diamond cluster ring, marks rubbed, size N, 3.8gOverall condition is complete. The cebtral stone measures approximateley 0.75 carats and has very light surface wear and tiny chips to the edges of the cut. Within the stone there are some fine specks visible under a glass. Hallmarks are rubbed from use.

John Wainwright (fl.1845-1873) A still life of various fruit on a silver platter on a stone ledge, draped with a turquoise and gold embellished fabric, with a bowl of goldfish and a Classical urn to the distance Signed and indistictly dated, oil on canvas, 66cm by 62cmThis lot has been imported from outside the United Kingdom under the Temporary Admission scheme. VAT will be charged at 5% on the hammer price and 20% on the buyer's premium. In fully restored condition. Stiffly re-lined, cleaned and re-varnished. The surface has been somewhat flattened and abraded by the restoration process. Several areas of thin paint, likely owing to the restoration. Areas where the weave and creases of the relined canvas are visible. Slight frame rubbing to edges. There are several patches of medium sized stable craquelure. Two small circular losses of paint to middle of right hand edge (see image), each no more than 0.5cm across. Under UV the work is covered in a thick varnish which rather occludes evidence of restoration. That said, there are several patches of infilling to old craquelure throughout the surface. There are some notable patches of retouching along the lower edge and sporadically elsewhere including a patch of the pineapple. a patch to the left of the goldfish bowl and the odd more subtle patch in the sky.
