§ Max Hofler (British, 1892-1963) The Stone bridge, Richmond Castle, Yorkshire signed lower right "Max Hofler" oil on canvas 46 x 60cm (18 x 23in) In general appearance is good. Some areas of surface dirt present, with some discolouration to the paint noticeable in the sky. Very faint vertical lines of abrasion above the houses to the left hand side of the picture, and over the water on this side. Frame has some scratches but is generally in good condition.
Attributed to John Warwick Smith, (British 1749-1831) "Shepherd in rural landscape" Painted depicting a shepherd and flock before a stone arch way and rural plains, unsigned, 48x59cms, oil on canvas, framed. CONDITION REPORT: Painting has undergone some restoration and appears to have been relined and cleaned. Under ultra violet light, the lower section fluoresces green only, indicating only small amounts of the original natural varnish remains. It appears the painting has been revarnished. Small area of overpaint to the sky area. Overall restoration, however appears to be sympathetic.
