A magnificent pair of verdigrised coade stone style pineapple finials on square plinth base, approx. 85cm high (with some damage etc., commensurate with age) CONDITION REPORT: Provenance: Privately from a lady who has moved from a very big seven figure house recently and these items are finials which adorned stone pillars at the entrance way to the house. The two finials are not perfect they have sustained some damage. The items are verdigris'd and the left hand finial has several chips to the extremities, mostly lower. There is also some stone chippings away from the square plinth base and some what looks like a hairline crack emanating from the bottom of the left hand one coming up into the main body. The right hand finial has a large crack running approx. a third of the height and running for about a foot and a half etc. This is possibly an old repair? The socle to that finial looks as if it's had some reparations at some stage and again there are pieces away from the extremities as seen by several images. The second one has a continuation crack running around approx. half the stone piece where the pineapple motif first starts from. We advise that these are not perfect but stand well, show well and would anticipate that with a professional restoration they would look quite striking as gatepost finials again. It is worth noting that on one side of the square plinth base there is some writing and this translates as Coade Lambeth Dated 1791. The finials are known to be approx. 84cm high from the tip of the finial to the bottom of the square plinth base.

A gilt bronze and champlevé enamel tazza on stand in Neo Grec taste by Ferdinand Barbedienne, circa 1870, of circular section, the twin foliate cast handles with rings above an enamelled band depicting polychrome ivy, holly and hellebores against a turquoise ground, two acanthus leaves rising from the foliate cast bottom rim, on a fluted, waisted foot, inscribed F. BARBEDIENNE on the base, 23 cm high, 38 cm wide, the bowl 23 cm in diameter CATALOGUE NOTES: This twin handled model was produced and has appeared on the market in various incarnations, including in different sizes, with and without stone socles, and even as a crowning ornament on mantel clocks. The Barbedienne foundry's frequent and creative reuse of existing designs attests to their commercial success. A similar example designed by Barbedienne and Louis-Constant Sevin was exhibited at the 1862 International Exhibition in London, and a smaller version of this model is held in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum.
