Cookery/Medical.- Slapp (Thomas) [Recipes] manuscript in a fine clear eighteenth century hand 64pp. some tears and chipped edges with some loss slight water-staining affecting a few ff. browned throughout signed several times on inside wrappers: "Thomas Slapp 1784" but almost certainly older and not by a man loose as issued original marbled wrappers worn with loss folio [eighteenth century]; and a modern printed copy of the same " folio & 8vo (2). *** Almost certainly the household recipe book of a lady from the mid-eighteenth century. Recipes include: "To make oring Wine"; "To make Metheglin"; "To make Aquamirabilis"; "For the stinging of an Adder"; "Goodwife Fosters Salve for all sores"; "To make Flos Unguentorum"; "An Excellent Medicine for all burns or Scaldings"; "For the stone in the kidney or bladder"; "To kill a Fellon"; "The Sympathaticall powder [Sir Kenelm Digby`s The Powder of Sympathy]"; "To dress a Dove House"; "To make a Tansey"; "To make Flomery"; "To make Qinddyni of Rubies Couller and Amber Couller of pippins..."; "To Cleare Sider"; "To make white Liver puddings"; "To make bred puddings"; "To make French Bread"; "To stew a Rump of Beif"; "To make collord Beif"; "To make Shrewsbury cakes"; "To Pickle Mushrooms".

A fine Tibetan silver, jade and turquoise teapot 20th century, the lower body in polished jade, on a turquoise and red stone banded silver foot, the silver upper body and cover set with alternating cabachon turquoise and red stones, the cover with lotus bud finial, the spout issuing from the mouth of a Makara, the flying scroll handle modelled as a scaly dragon with red stone eyes, 6in. (15cm.) high. See Illustration.
