1966 Ford Mustang FIA 'Notchback' Transmission: manualMileage:UK saloon racing in the 1960s was epitomised by the battles between the American V8s and the British Lotus Ford Cortinas and Austin Coopers of the day. They were driven, in the British Saloon Car Championship (pre-BTCC), by current Grand-Prix stars such as Jim Clark, Jack Brabham and Graham Hill, as well as saloon car specialists like Frank Gardener, Brian Muir, Sir Gawaine Bailie, Roy Pierpoint and Jack Sears. It was an exciting and evocative period of racing and the crowds enjoyed the closeness of the racing brought about by the contrasting abilities of the nimble Cortinas and Minis and the straight line speed of the V8s.Imported to the UK in 2010, this 1966 dry state Arizona sourced Mustang, was bought with the sole intention of being built into a top specification FIA race car. The car was stripped and then acid dipped to give a lightweight and ideal starting point. Built from the ground up by Any Yool, the car was purchased by the vendor in 2016 after the car had won its class at the 2015 Spa 6 hour race. Since then, the car has been subject to intense development with no stone left unturned. The supplied history file shows this development and the cost that comes with that, amounting to well over £150,000, excluding the cost of the car in 2016.Now only offered for sale to help fund a FIA TVR Griffith project, this ultimate specification FIA Mustang is available at a fraction of the cost to build a comparable car, with all of the development work having already carried out. No expense has been spared since the vendors ownership, with help coming first from V8 specialist Nigel Reuben Racing and more recently the legendary Alan Mann Racing team. In fact, Steve Soper recently took the car for a couple of laps of Donington on a test day and immediately managed a 1:22:82 lap in traffic, on only one flying lap. Given that his qualifying lap in April of this year in his own car, was only 3 tenths of a second quicker, shows the car definitely has the capability to compete for race wins. The specification of this car is truly impressive, boasting amongst other things; an Inconel exhaust system, (an extremely light and expensive metal used to make Formula 1 exhausts), Kenny Coleman EDA FIA specification engine, new rear axle, new gearbox, new Alan Mann custom dampers and new VBox Lite datalogger and video system along with its FIA technical passport valid through until the end of 2028. Such is the quality of the car that it was invited to race in the 2021 Pierpoint Cup at the Goodwood Members Meeting, where the vendor shared the car with racing legend Jochen Mass, (whose signature can be seen on the glove box).Supplied with a UK V5C registration document, file of receipts, FIA papers, Alan Mann set-up information folder and eight spare wheels. Road registered and wanting for nothing, this FIA Mustang presents an opportunity to acquire a fully developed car that is eligible for all the top events including Goodwood and Masters Series, amongst many others.
2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Transmission: paddleMileage:27600Replacing the preceding 456, this physically larger model was a genuine four-seat grand tourer and thus extremely capable. The front engined, V12 powerplant was shared with the 575 Superamerica pushing this significant motorcar passed the magic 200mph point. Guitar legend, Eric Clapton, owned a similar model as did many other Ferrari collectors who recognised its understated styling and powerful performance. This much-loved example, presented in Argento Nürburgring 101/C with a contrasting Bordeaux 4481 red leather and Bordeaux 481 carpet interior, was originally delivered from the Ferrari's Carrozzeria Scaglietti plant to Maranello Concessionaires in Egham. The first owner specified red brake calipers with carbon ceramic brakes, 19” modular wheel rims and Pirelli tyres externally, as well as heated front seats, a plumbed-in 'infotainment' system to keep up to date with the outside world and a Navtrak anti-theft system. Additionally, 'Scuderia Ferrari' shields were applied along with rear parking sensors. We are pleased to report that this Ferrari has been used for the exact purpose for which it has been designed, that is to say, trans-continental touring as husband and wife having used it on many such occasions, the F1-style gearbox certainly helping with the distances. With light stone-chip wear associated with use, this benefits from a recent service and an MoT test certificate valid until September 2023.Interested parties should note that the current registration does not come with the car and that a new one will be issued.
1968 Daimler 250 V8 Transmission: Mileage:74126This example of Daimler's 1960s line-up utilised the powerful 2.5 litre, V8 engine made famous in the 250SP. This model range, launched in 1962, was effectively a rebadged Mk. II but the engine was a silky-smooth power plant mated to a standard automatic gearbox. In 1967, it was renamed the V8-250 and differed in relatively small details such as sleek, slimline bumpers and overriders, an alternator instead of a dynamo and twin air cleaners; one for each carburettor. This example of the V8 powered Daimler 250 is presented in possibly the best colour combination of deep navy blue with contrasting biscuit trim. Fully restored between 2016 and 2019 by Rotaflow engineers, they took the car right back to bare metal, restoring the original bodywork with old fashioned tried and tested hand work skills. The car has been rebuilt to original factory standards maintaining Daimler originality. According to printed photographic documentation and indeed a web page there were no time or budget limits on the project; nothing was rushed and the entire project took over 3000 hours. The engine was stripped, cleaned, de-coked and then carefully re-built. The radiator was sent away to be professionally re-cored and repainted to as new condition. The original Daimler wooden interior was re-veneered and replaced. The interior carpets were beyond repair, so they were completely removed and replaced with a luxury interior carpet. The seats were cleaned and restored and the car re-painted back to its original Daimler colour. The rest of the car that didn't need any engineering was fully removed, restored and refitted with brand new tyres, new bulbs, all fluids drained and re-filled and all fixtures and fittings tightened and re-sealed. We are told no stone was left unturned on this project. Wanting to be both sympathetic to the original car and ensuring the work has been carried out to the highest possible standards, this is a lovely example of the Daimler 250 V8.
