A rare Anglo-Saxon limestone mask corbel, 10th/11th century, the smiling face carved in bas-relief to a cube-shaped block of stone, probably from the Barnack quarry,ex. Howard Neville 1995.Anglo-Saxon stone masks can be seen at the tower of St Peter’s Church, Barton-upon-Humber and to the Church of St John the Baptist, Barnack, the latter re-located following alterations around 1150.
