Ancient Greek alabaster alabastron, Classical Period, Circa 5th - 4th Century B.C. , the elongated body with elegant vertical banding of the stone, with twin lug handles and a wide rim, 24cm high. Together with a letter dated 1908 detailing "My Dear Mr Lee, I send herewith the Ancient Alabastron which was found in a tomb in Greece, and which is probably over 2,000 years old. I got it at Thebes....." the letter ends with the sentence "There are a few of these ancient alabastron in the British Museum, but none better than the one I sent you. Believe me, Yours faithfully R. Caton"

This Rolls-Royce features an impressive options list including; TV function, mobile phone prep, Walnut-veneered instrument panel, upper two-tone paint, blue chrome option, parking AC, cameras front & rear and 21'' aluminium wheels.Today this Phantom VII Saloon appears in superb order and the unique colour combination is spectacular. The car formed part of a significant private collection and is offered 'as is' with the last MOT expiring on 10 January 2020. It was converted to right-hand drive and the chassis was fully restored and refinished in two-pack gloss black to a very high standard. The engine was fully rebuilt including new liners and pistons and the crank reground. The immaculate paint finish is Dark Racing Green, the interior has been superbly retrimmed in BRG-piped Stone leather with matching carpets and all the instruments were rebuilt. The engine bay is immaculate, almost showroom fresh and the silver-painted, sixty-spoke wires are wearing a decent set of Michelin 155/15 tyres.The quality of this restoration is remarkable and this benchmark 3A features in Bill Piggott's book, "The Original TR2, 3 & 3A". According to a handwritten inventory of the contents of Cosway's house at 20 Stratford Place, drawn up in 1820, his collection of 2,672 drawings were arranged by artist, subject and dimensions in 29 portfolios, books and boxes (see note in Lugt online).

He was a keen and accomplished artist, following in the footsteps of his father, a watercolourist who had studied under John Malchair. A series of Sir Robert's comic hunting scenes were reproduced as engravings in Indispensable Accomplishments published in 1811, a work which directly inspired Henry Alken Senior.
