Wolf, "Mr. Dresser thinks this plate will not do..." Keulemans agreed to refer the matter to Wolf & abide by his decision; 707 with final state as corrected by Lord Lilford. In a manuscript note in the index volume Dresser notes, "The plates, which are bound separately are the pattern plates, coloured specially by the artist, as I had the illustrations drawn direct on stone, and a proof coloured which thus forms the original of each one. Of these patterns one was issued with the first prospectus, and was not published in the work (113B) and seven others were never issued. Five of these were printed in Leyden by Mr. Trap, and the work was so badly executed that we refused to accept it, and had the rest of the work done in London...As we took the work away from Mr. Trap, he refused to send the stones of these five plates, hence we were compelled to have the plates redrawn (113A, 147A, 150A, 154A, 222A). 81A - the stone was damaged and had to be redrawn and 503A "drawn by Neale but so unsatisfactory that I had it cancelled & redrawn by Keulemans".
