In ancient Roman religion and mythology, Faunus is the god of the wild, shepherds and nature. He was associated with rustic music and was a companion of the nymphs. Faunus is depicted with his characteristic hindquarters, legs, and horns of a goat, in the same manner as a faun or satyr.
