A Georgian diamond cluster ring, the central stone weighing approx. 1ct, surrounded by sixteen melee diamonds, the white metal set cluster measuring approx. 10.5mm x 10.4mm, fleur-de-lis detail in white metal to shoulders, yellow metal unmarked, gross wt. 2.9g, size K/L, with associated box. Condition - very good, appears damage/repair free, remarkable lack of wear, diamond with minor inclusions visible with 10x loupe only, slight hint of yellow.

Condition - central stone abraided and as a result lost lustre, the surround stones with general wear including nibbles to facet edges etc. no evidence of any previous re-sizing, band and setting generally in good condition, minor waer including ligth scratches etc.

Inclusions visible with naked eye to two of the stones and further inclusions visible with 10x loupe, stones are bright and lively, slight hint of colour.

Condition - sold without certificate, however, the diamond appear bright and lively, colourless/near colourless, inclusions visible with 10x loupe and in the photographs but not with the naked eye, approx. VS1, band in good condition, does not appear to have ever been resized.

Carved Soapstone PipeA nice pipe stick. The handle of the cane is in the form of a hand/fist made of carved soapstone. Below that is a band of silver metal. This unscrews from the cane to reveal the complete pipe. Overall length of the cane is is 36 ¾”/933mm. The pipe size is 6"/152mm. The cane is missing a ferrule. (There is black rubber remains on shaft tip).The shaft is very clean, probably fruitwood, like cherry, apple, etc., with the original finish. Soapstone is a natural mineral formed in the earth's sedimentary layer and is a dense, non-porous rock also called steatite.It is relatively soft and may feel soapy when touched, hence the name. The soft stone is easily carved and not degraded by heating. It is strong and durable, yet easily shaped and impervious to the corrosive effects of combustion by-products. It is unaffected by great fluctuations in temperature and has the ability to withstand direct flames indefinitely, storing heat, and then radiating it slowly and steadily..

An lovely cane with the handle in the form of a pomander. The top is capped with a domed open work metal grill, probably silver, in the form of vinaigrette. The upper section of the handle, which is bone, may be unscrewed. This reveals the cavity in the handle thought at first possibly to hold pot-pourri. However it carries a strong smell of tobacco! Set into the body of the handle is an oval stone with a fine silver beaded surround. The stone appears to be agate or similar. Just below the handle is a silver collar 1”/25mm deep fully hallmarked for Birmingham. Makers mark JM. Date mark too rubbed to fully identify though shield shape indicates between 1900 and 1920. The shaft is ebony or ebonised wood with a replacement ferrule.
