New Kingdom, 1550-1077 BC.A substantial sub-rectangular carved stone panel fragment with four columns of hieroglyphic text referring to the officials Iuraray and Hatia; the hieroglyphic text reads (columns from right to left):(1) … of the Lord of the Two Lands, Iuraray, (justified); (2) … of the Lord of the Two Lands, Hatia, justified; (3) … of his Lord, Iuraray, justified; (4) … Ra, the Lord, Hatia, (justified); two sockets to the underside to accept mounting legs. 7.6 kg, 40cm (15 3/4"). Fine condition. Property of a Swiss gentleman; acquired from a London auction house; formerly in a private English collection since 1996; previously in an old UK private collection. Accompanied by an Art Loss Register certificate. See Ranke, H. Die ägyptischen Personennamen, Vol. 1 Glückstadt, 1935. The names Iuraray and Hatia are both registered with Ranke: Iuraray (Jw.rA.rA.y), male, p. 18 no. 12. Hatia (HA.t.jA), male, p. 233 no. 1. Ranke dates both names to the New Kingdom, 1550-1077 BC.

A carved black hardstone cylinder seal with three gods and three columns of cuneiform inscription; a contemporary copy with the star for god incorrectly written; cuneiform text: 1. dingir-x-e-SI 2. dumu ba-pa-ar-Å¡í 3. ir Í©nin-si-an-na; accompanied by a section of the old scholarly notes on a collection of 61 seals, typed and unsigned, by W. G. Lambert, late Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Old Babylonian. c. 1800-1700 B.C. Black stone. Å amaÅ¡ with raised saw, foot on stool, facing god with mace and Lamma; "vessel" and "ball-staff"; Inscription: "...., son of Suparlu(?), servant of Ninsi'anna.' 11.89 grams, 26mm (1"). Very fine condition.Property of a London gentleman; part of his family collection since the 1970s; collection identification number 14; supplied with a museum-quality impression.This lot is part of a single collection of cylinder seals which were examined in the 1980s by Professor Lambert and most are accompanied by his own detailed notes; the collection has recently been reviewed by Dr. Ronald Bonewitz.

A black stone cylinder seal engraved with a figure wearing a long robe and horned cap, holding a sceptre, other hand raised in greeting to a central male figure seated on a bull; behind a bearded male figure wearing long robes and horned cap and carrying a sceptre; behind a panel with four rows of cuneiform text. 4 grams, 14mm (1/2"). Very fine condition.From an important North London collection formed in the late 1980s.
14th-12th century BC. A large cylinder seal made of dark brown stone with red and white pattern, with six columns of cuneiform text; a seated bearded god facing a standing male worshipper, a 'merman' above; the text translates and transliterates as follow: 1. utu en / Sun-god (Utu), lord 2. sag gal kur-kur-ra / great chief of the lands 3. digir zu nu - [x] / god, sage who does not... 4. kar su u-d[ug] / save when (your) hand is fa(vourable) 5. urdu ni-tuku / (your) reverential servant 6. KI-AG?-BA/ZU-x / (Personal name, unread) [A video of this lot is available on the TimeLine Auctions website] 27.64 grams, 41mm (1 1/2"). Very fine condition. Accompanied with a museum-quality impression. Property of a London gentleman; part of his family collection since the 1970s.

A large green stone cylinder seal engraved with a standing male deity with wings and wearing a cap and belt, holding two animals (ibex ?), sun and winged sun-disc to either side with plant motif to the bottom; to the back a winged ibex. 10 grams, 30mm (1 1/4"). Fine condition.From a North London collection; formerly in the Rihani family collection, formed 1970-1980s.

One winged monster pursuing another; crescent; two plants.' 10.9 grams, 31mm (1 1/4").
