Condition ReportThe setting has scuffs commensurate with age; the claws are sound and secure but have lost their rhodium plating so not as white as the gallery below. The diamond has a good level of polish, but there is a material eye visible black inclusion. There are two naturals (remnants of the original surface of the diamond crystal) on the lower girdle on opposite sides, showing that the cutter used the maximum width possible: to the untrained eye these look like chips, but are not. The girdle is thick, so the weight of the stone will be greater than the 'spread' would suggest: the measurements would give a calculated weight of 1.79ct, plus potentially 10% for the thick girdle, gives 1.97ct; but the weight given by the retailer - confirmed by an owner's note that it was weighed in front of them - is stated to be 2.01ct
