A CHINESE JADEITE CARVING OF A SCENE FROM THE LEGEND OF THE MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL 20TH CENTURY Depicting a group of Immortals with an attendant standing on clouds above a pine tree, a scaly dragon lurking at their feet, with a figure and a grazing horse at the base of the tree, the stone with pale lavender and green areas, together with a wood stand, 18cm. A CHINESE PINK TOURMALINE BEAD GRADUATED NECKLACE AND A JADEITE PENDANT 20TH CENTURY The necklace's thirty-nine beads incised with foliate designs and of varying cylindrical forms, the pendant carved as a dragon, the stone of a pale green colour with vibrant apple green and minor white and russet inclusions, 47cm. TWO CHINESE JADE TWO-HANDLED BOWLS MING AND QING DYNASTY Each carved with a band of raised studs, the larger cup a translucent pale celadon colour, the handles decorated with archaistic swirls, the smaller cup's handles formed as dragons, the stone celadon with white mottling and black and russet inclusions, together with wood stands, 12.7cm. A CHINESE PALE CELADON JADE CARVING OF A FOREIGNER WITH A LION DOG QING DYNASTY The figure stands wearing a headband and a long cloak, holding a stem of lingzhi at his side and a sceptre by his face, his long hair curling up at the ends, the lion dog sits next to him with bulging eyes and an open mouth, the stone with minor russet inclusions, together with a fitted silk stand, 8.5cm. (2) Cf. Christie's London, 14th May 2013, lot 84 for a related jade carving of a foreigner.
TWO CHINESE JADE LIBATION CUPS MING AND QING DYNASTY The handle of the larger cup formed as a mythical beast, with a further creature to the rim, the pale stone with white mottling and black-brown inclusions, the smaller cup incised and carved in relief with dragons and archaistic swirls, the angular handle suspending a ring, the stone a pale celadon colour with russet inclusions, 13cm. (2)
A CHINESE PALE CELADON JADE CARVING OF A HOUND AND HER PUPPY QING DYNASTY OR LATER The larger dog lying in a recumbent pose with her head resting upon her front paws, the pup relaxing by its mother's side, the stone with minor russet inclusions, 7cm. Cf. Bluett & Sons Ltd., Dr Newton's Zoo, p.19, pl.22 and p.35, pl.65 for similar jade carvings of hounds without a puppy.
A CHINESE YELLOW JADE OPENWORK RECTANGULAR PLAQUE QING DYNASTY Carved with nine sinuous chilong amongst archaistic swirls, all enclosed within a simple rectangular border, the stone of a pale yellow colour and with some areas of white mottling, 8.6cm. Provenance: from a Greek private collection.
