'The art of the Stonemason' - A York stone totem, with vaulted top over square body carved with masks, two alphabets in gothic serif font, gothic arches and Celtic spiral design. This was probably made as an advertisement to show of the skill of a Stonemason, or as an apprentice piece for similar reasons.
BRIT AWARDS 2005 AND Q AWARDS 2007. Collection of memorabilia from awards nights attended by Hooky to include wristbands, passes, programmes, itineraries, globetrotter "goodie bag" suitcase with spank paddle inside plus other tickets and correspondence relating to the events. Two of the giants of the Awards industry. These events certainly lost their allure once I got sober, but I must admit it was nice to be acknowledged over the years. They were very glitzy occasions still, and as a fan as well, I was certainly in awe of some of the artists there, to say the least. We presented to The Scissor Sisters at The Brits. The Q Awards was a tribute to Tony Wilson. A reviewer said... Former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown, who won the Q Legend award, even paid tribute to Peter Hook, the former New Order bass guitarist who was there to present the Q Hero prize posthumously to Factory Records founder Anthony Wilson, for naming his studio Suite 16 in 1986. Wilson, who died in August aged 57 following a battle with cancer, received the biggest standing ovation for his part in creating an enduring Manchester musical legacy. His voice cracking, Hook said: “This is very difficult for me. He always said to me, when you want me I won’t be there but when you need me... I will be. I truly believe that.” Wilson’s award was collected by his children Oliver and Isobel, who said: “We miss him and it’s really nice to know other people do too.”
MOBY & NEW ORDER TOUR MEMORABILIA. To include Moby "Destroyed" book with dedication and doodle to Hooky, Moby - Porcelain book, 2 dressing room door signs (one Moby, one New Order) plus schedule/itinerary & wristband for New Order & Moby's performance together at the 2005 Dance Music Awards in Hanover.Moby was always a great fan and responsible for launching us back into America with his Area 1 tour. God I was ill on that tour... caught a virus in Japan funnily enough, the one Slim caught the first time we ever went in the early 80s. I lost 2 stone in 4 days... I thought I wouldn’t be able to play and it was Billy Corgan who saved me with a couple of Tamiflus... first time I wandered off stage. The highlight was undoubtedly our guesting on his cover version of ‘New Dawn Fades’... the faces of people watching John Frusciante teaching me and Barney the bass and guitar will haunt me forever. It was wonderful, and afterwards, I stood with Barney at the side of the stage and he turned to me and said, “When are we doing that song with Moby” “Eh?" We’d just done it!
STONE ROSES RELATED MEMORABILIA. To include War and Peace book with a letter from Penguin to Peter, 2 x Elephant Stone 12" singles and Stone Roses LP, newspaper pullout and NME magazine, tickets & passes relating to gigs, a letter with postcards to Mani from photographer Tom Sheehan plus Stone Roses Sally Cinnamon 12" (12REV36 - no sleeve).I suppose it is much the same story as The Stone Roses. After the 'Elephant Stone’ production for them, we have known each other very well for a long time. I love them all. I save everything of theirs whenever I see anything. They feel like my children, only cheaper and less trouble. They are one of Manchester’s greatest bands.
HOOKY'S ZIPPO LIGHTER COLLECTION & SILVER RING. Collection of 10 lighters (many with inscriptions) and a silver ring bearing "Hooky" inscription. Interestingly one has number 7 which was the original name for the album Get Ready. The ring was a present from my great friend Hector, from Mexico. The last time we played as ‘The Light’ he told me, "You did well Peter, you got 4998 people! Not as many as last weeks act tho". "Oh," says I, "Who was that signor?" He smiled, "The Stone Roses, they got 5000." The lighters were mainly gifts from many lovely people... No.7 was the original title for ‘Get Ready’ and was done as a gift to all involved on finishing the LP at Anne Seymour's house in Bath. I do not smoke now. All proceeds to The Christie Cancer Charity.
