A Fancy Yellow and White Diamond Pendant on Chain, the fancy yellow square modified brilliant cut diamond within a double border of white diamonds, on a diamond set bale, total diamond weight 1.60 carat approximately, hung on a white fine trace link chain, chain length 41.5cm, pendant drop measures 2.5cm. See illustration. The yellow diamond has an accompanying report from The Precious Stone Laboratory, London, dated 8th December 2006, number 981908, which states the diamond as 0.88 carat, a fancy yellow colour, and VS1 clarity.
A Red Overlay Glass Snuff Bottle, circa 1850-1900, boldly carved on one side with a dog tethered to a pillar, on the other with an eagle, lion mask and ring to each shoulder, green stone domed cover, 8.2cm high overall; and Another, carved in relief with three goats pasturing beneath willow trees, agate stopper, 7.1cm high (2). A satirical bottle decorated with an eagle and a dog conveys the impression of heroism. Eagle and bear is a homophone for heroes in Chinese. In northern China the word for bear is often used with the word for dog preceding it, "a dog-bear". Eagle and dog are both fierce and aggressive but the dog has no choice about remaining loyal to his master.
