STRANGE STONE - STRANGE STONE LP (DEROY STUDIOS - DER 1399). Up for grabs here we have an incredibly scarce privately released folk rarity. Strange Stone - Self-Titled (DER 1399, 1977 self released LP, No: 36 of 255 produced. Labels are bright and clean, record is in stunning Ex condition. Sleeve has a little handling wear around the edges, again beautiful Ex. Includes lyric insert that has a light crease and a previous owner has also slotted in a magazine clipping about the band).

THE STONE ROSES - ELEPHANT STONE DEMO CASSETTE TAPE. A killer early demo cassette from The Stone Roses, this tape containing 2 x demos of Elephant Stone and also containing the lovely 'You Make Me Feel' from The Woodentops. The black tape has no manufacturer markings and is simply stickered 'The Stone Roses/Elephant Stone'. The tape contains 2 x demo versions of the track which appear to be similar to those that were later released on the 20th anniversary, with ambient noise heard before the tracks begin (the count-in can be heart) set as well as The Woodentops - You Make Me Feel. No inlay card. The recording is in excellent condition. Provenance: from Geoff Travis' Rough Trade archive.
THE STONE ROSES - ELEPHANT STONE/HARDEST THING IN THE WORLD DEMO CASSETTE TAPE (DIFFERENT VERSION). Totally mega early demo cassette of Elephant Stone c/w Hardest Thing In The World, this early (very much live sounding) demo different to that of other released versions. The tape (Japanese produced TDK High Bias 70us EQ SA 60) has 'Stone Roses Dolby' written on the A side sticker with 'In' ticked. This version has a different intro, Squire's squaliing semitone riff more close to the later commercial release, this can be heard 'fading in' at the very beginning of the track. The Hardest Thing In The World appears to the be same as the commercial release. With original printed inlay card from Suite 16 Recording Studio, Rochdale. A must have for any Roses collector! A VICTORIAN SCOTTISH DIRK, 25cm fullered blade with faceted back edge, characteristic white metal mounted hilt, the pommel set with a faceted orange stone, carved wooden grip decorated with basket weave and set with brass studs, contained in its white metal mounted leather scabbard, two of the mounts decorated with thistles, complete with companion knife and fork decorated to match. Mounts painted gold, thistle lacking from upper mount and chape lacking.
A VICTORIAN SGEAN DUBH, 9.5cm fullered blade with faceted back edge and clipped back tip, characteristic white metal mounted hilt decorated with strapwork, the pommel set with an orange stone, carved basket weave wooden grip set with white metal studs, contained in its white metal mounted leather scabbard decorated with strapwork.
A SINHALESE OR CEYLONESE KASTANE OR SHORT SWORD, 36cm curved blade with faceted back edge, inlaid in brass and chiselled with a geometric design, characteristic white metal hilt decorated with scrolling foliage and geometric designs, the various quillons and terminals formed into mythical beasts or simah, the pommel of typical open mouthed crested simah form with semi-precious pink stone eyes, one lacking, contained in its white metal panelled scabbard decorated with scrolling foliage within geometric borders, a grotesque mask adorns the scabbard just below the throat. Late 19th or 20th Century.

Late 19th or 20th Century.

Tibet, two gold and inlaid breast ornaments, middle 20th century, decorated with Kirtimukha faces, inlaid with turquoise, eyebrows with lapis, eyes in rubies. One with a silver peg and decoration of Buddhist symbols in relief. Ref. PNG, Ramu River, rare shield, 19th century stone carved oval shield, the top carved with a raised wedge and a design of eyes, zoomorphic forms, circle motives and an anthropomorphic face. The plane decorated with two larger carved diamond shaped forms with a star- and diamond shape within, both with indentations on the outer rim. The shield painted with natural pigments in black, white and red. Collection of Fred Carasso (1899-1969) an Italian born famous Dutch sculptor and collector of fine Arts, thence by descent. Ex-collection Carel van Lier. The early label number 32 suggests according to grandson Bas van Lier, that this shield was acquired somewhere in the 1920’s. At the back written numbers and the remnants of another old label h. 53,5 cm. [1]

At the front a carved stylized leopard head and a short tail at the back. With a natural crack over the middle. Provenance America Antiqua, Tilburg, 1999 and Private Dutch collection since.
