A rare Charles I East Anglian silver Lion Sejant spoon, SI or IS with a pellet below or above, Norwich 1636, fig-shaped bowl, faceted tapering stem, the Lion Sejant finial with traces of gilding, the reverse of the bowl with an old collection label which reads '1636 Norwich by John Stone', length 17cm, approx. weight 1.4oz. Provenance: A Private Collection. Anonymous Collection in 1952. Sotheby and Co., Provincial Spoons, left by The Late H.D. Ellis, Esq. 13 November 1935, lot 44. Where the catalogue states: 'This most important spoon is, at present, the only known lion sejant that can definitely be ascribed to Norwich. Illustrated in How, G., in collaboration with How J., English and Scottish Silver Spoons, Volume One, Chapter II, Section VII, pages 264-266, plate 5, right-hand spoon.

A pair of Victorian novelty Eddystone Lighthouse pepper pots, by Deakin and Francis, Birmingham 1895, modelled as the lighthouse, pull-off pierced covers, engraved with windows, ladders and '1759', the undersides inscribed 'Smeaton's Edystone [sic] Lighthouse', one with a later presentation inscription, on a raised rocky circular base, height 12cm, approx weight 5.8oz. (2) The Eddystone lighthouse is located approximately twelve miles SSW of Plymouth Sound. The first lighthouse on the site was a wooden structure constructed in 1698 by Henry Winstanley. The Smeaton lighthouse was the third lighthouse, made of granite and Portland stone. The light was first lit on 16 October 1759. Smeaton's lighthouse was 59 feet (18 m) high and had a diameter at the base of 26 feet (8m). It was lit by a chandelier of twenty-four large tallow candles', ref Wikipedia.'

The ring size is hard to calculate as it has two re-sizing beads to the inner shank. Claws slightly worn. Some very minor chips to girdle. Large clear surface reaching inclusion just off centre of stone.Diamond 9.3mm diameter x 5.3mm deep. The inclusion is large but hard to see with naked eye as it is colourless. A few minor nibbles to girdle.
