Twelve 19th century fairings to include 'The attentive maid', 'The broken hoop', 'The wedding night', 'The Welsh tea party', 'Kiss me quick' and 'Oyster Day''The attentive maid' – a small match-head sized chip to underside of left-hand front base, historic firing 1.5cm crack vertically to green skirt, some paint rubbing and loss and probable female head away and re-affixed with restoration and new colours etc.; 'The Welsh tea party' – some gilt rubbing to plinth base, paint loss to back of one hat otherwise original condition; 'Now ma-am say when' - a 1cm arch-shaped flat piece of porcelain away from the end of the title, small match-head sized chip away to underside of plinth base (rear left) otherwise seemingly in original condition; 'The girls of the period' - female with blue dress paint rubbing / losses and half of right-hand handlebar missing, some further paint rubbing commensurate with age otherwise looks pretty original; 'If old age could' - some kiln grit in glaze otherwise good; ‘Cancan’ – some minor gilt rubbing otherwise OK; ‘Three o’clock in the morning’ – very minor flat chip away to underside plinth base (rear right), some minor paint rubbing and loss otherwise good condition; ‘Open your mouth and shut your eyes’ – figure in blue jacket raised hand some glazing away probable restoration to object in boy’s mouth (different colour), restoration also to boy’s right hand leg; ‘Oyster Day’ – restoration to left-hand standing female right hand and arm, small restoration to top of right-hand fence support as visible from back, some minor paint rubbing; ‘Kiss me quick’ – broken neck to flask on tray, minor firing crack to left of female’s shoe, some paint rubbing otherwise OK; ‘The wedding night’ – female head completely away and re-affixed and coloured out, new colour on back of neck/shoulders also; ‘The broken hoop’ – taller figure with restoration and later colour to both legs. To a certain degree there are mostly minor paint losses to some of the fairings.
JAMES SANT R.A. (1820-1916) – a pair of early 20th century century life-sized oil on canvas portraits. The subjects, presumably relatives, painted in three-quarter-length – the gentleman wearing green-ochre coat and trousers, and his companion in half-mourning dress. Gilt frames. (The varnished and relined canvasses measuring approx. 144cm x 87cm,).

Sir James Bacon, half-length wearing an elegant black dressSigned and dated 1892, initialled LL, oil on canvas 59.5cm by 49.5cmThe sitter was born 1833 and died 1917 according to a label to reverseCondition report: In an overall good and original state of preservation. Covered in a thick layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. Slight stretcher shadow. Isolated patches of fine but relatively pronounced areas of cracquelure across face. The varnish has deteriorated and has an opaque-like quality which is particularly evident across some of the darker pigments and tones of the background and dress. These areas also have cracquelure which is essentially stable. Very minor buckle to lower right-hand corner canvas, minor rubbing to edges. Essentially circular loss to lower right-hand corner which has been infilled. A further Vertical band with further infilling and strengthening from lower right-hand corner along right-hand side edge approx 3cm at the widest point and 10cm in length. A further patch of infilling to loss just above lower left-hand corner approx 1.5cm at the widest point and 3cm in length. Patch of retouching to upper left-hand corner approx 1cm diameter. Various losses to gesso frame. Odd very superficial surface scuff etc.Provenance; Presuumbly commissioned directly from the artist. The sitter is a direct descendent of the vendor.

(oval)Contained in a decorative gesso and gilt frameAugusta Gordon (née Bolton) born in 1828 in Ontario, Canada. Married Colonel ECA Gordon and lived in Izmir, Turkey. Her daughter, Ann, married Frederick Heneage and their son, Sir Arthur Heneage, was the grandfather of the present vendorCondition report: In an overall good and original state of preservation covered in a thick layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. The varnish has also deteriorated and has an opaque quality in parts. Varying-sized cracquelure throughout some of which is more crazed and separated, notably across her right cheek, forehead and nose, through large parts of her white gown and also the background including one or two patches of lightly applied bitumem mostly within the background.

Straight edges visible along the sides and the top, perhaps loss or originally in a different frame. The paper label to reverse has heavy loss.

Both with slight warping. The additional portrait in good condition but lacking the strut to the frame.

IMPERIAL GERMAN NAVAL OFFICERS DRESS DAGGER BY WKC, with Imperial pattern crowned top, ivorine grip, brass cross guard having fouled anchors, reversed with press button release catch, in brass scabbard with oak leaf pattern hanging ring fittings, partial double edged blade, which is etched with coronet, leaves etc to both sides. WKC knight's helmet type trade mark to the base of the blade, blade measures 23cms, overall 40cms Provenance: South Wales collection since 1970. Comments: blade worn, scabbard worn.
