He was a famous and very highly respected soldier in his day, and a close friend of Queen Victoria.
William Kay Blacklock (1872-1924) - portrait of a young girl, seated three quarter length wearing a cream dress and holding a blue ribbon, a sunlit meadow beyond, signed and dated 1908, pencil and watercolour, 16.5" x 12.5" - ** Attached to the reverse of the picture is the original backing board bearing the indistinct details where the exhibition was shown. - ** The artist was born in Sunderland, and worked as a lithographer's apprentice whilst living with his widowed mother. He continued practising the trade of lithography and printing, but became a watercolourist and painter in oils. Exhibiting works at The Royal Academy between 1897-1918. His wife Nellie modelled for him as did their daughter Elenore. He visited Walberswick in 1914 but later moved to St. Ives in Cambridgeshire he died in Polperro and is buried in the civil parish of Liskeard. - *** The picture is sold together with the original invoice dated, June 1989 from the Wren Gallery of Burford, Oxfordshire, the original price being £2,200, and was described as being titled “Lydia”

CMG he was gazetted to the 1st byln regiment of Belfast 1892 then posted to the 2nd Btln Poona he served on the Nile expedition 1898 and was ADC to field marshal lord Grenfell Gvn of Malta. 1914 was AKMG second core. AT Mons he was injured when his horse was startled by a shell burst, for services in war he was created C.M.G and brevet colonel in 1915 and a CB 1918, he was mentioned in dispatches 8 times and died on the 3rd November 1958 aged 87"

Also a plate steel 'Beware Of Trains' sign, (30.5x17.5 cm).
Miscellaneous tie pins, including a 14ct yellow gold diamond horseshoe set with approx 16 pts of dias with a 9ct pin 2.11 gms, 9ct gold synthetic ruby on base metal pin, 14ct and diamond 1.8 pts on a 9ct pin 1.51 gms and a 14ct sodolite with approx 2 pts of dias on a 14ct pin, 1.64 gms together with a set of gentleman's gold-plated dress studs.
A vintage 18ct gold and diamond dress watch. The watch having a 17mm silver face with baton and Arabic markers, surrounded by a diamond bezel, with an applied 18ct Tissot Milanese bracelet, gross weight without movement 33.4 gms, watch strap measures 17 cms in length.
