Members of the Octopus Cult wore Arabian-style costumes when Octopussy (Maud Adams) exited her swimming pool after going skinny dipping. This costume can be seen in a promotional photo featuring Seaward and four other women surrounding Roger Moore. The dress is made of purple organza with a pink taffeta underlayer and cotton lining on the bust and sleeves. Ornate faux-gold embroidered patterns decorate the garment and three hook-and-eye fastenings are attached at the bust. A Bermans & Nathans costumier's label is located inside and reads "Caroline Seaward, 19058, Octopussy". AN EARLY VICTORIAN NEEDLEWORK SCHOOL SAMPLER BY SARAH PUGMIRE worked with coloured wools on a coarse linen ground, with two names 'Jonathan Pugmire, Sarah Pugmire' with family initials, above a virtuous verse and a depiction of St. Cuthbert's Church, with a Celtic cross, with flowers and birds, signed and dated 'Sarah Pugmire her Work Finished in the Year of her ....Musgrave School in the Year 1847' in a glazed simulated wood frame 51 x 47.5cm Provenance Upper Slaughter Manor, The Collection of Micheál and Elizabeth Feller. Literature The Feller Needlework Collection: 2, p.65 for a discussion of this sampler. Catalogue Note Lady Musgrave's School was opened in 1833 and was supported in part by the Dowager Lady Musgrave. According to the 1851 Census Sarah Pugmire was still living with her parents and working as a dress-maker.

Pair of 1940s Cartier ruby and diamond dress clips, each modelled as a flower with yellow gold petals and gold stamens centred with an old cut diamond and five oval mixed cut rubies, each clip signed 'Cartier London' and numbered 762. Each flower measures approximately 34mm. This pair of clips belonged to Miss Miriam (Mimi) Jordon 1904-1987 who was a British actress who enjoyed a career in Hollywood as a leading lady during the early 1930s. Her best known films are Sherlock Holmes (1932) and I Loved You Wednesday (1933). Accompanied by a black and white photograph of Mimi wearing the Cartier clips. Condition report: The clips have come from a descendant of the original owner, Mimi Jordan. Both clips are in very good condition commensurate with age and wear. The spring fittings still snap shut tightly, no obvious signs of any damage or repairs. Each clip is signed 'Cartier, London', no hallmarks, stamped 762, they are more of a rose gold than a yellow gold, not tested but presumably 9ct or 18ct gold. The diamonds are old cut cushion shape stones of good colour and clarity and measure approximately 3mm - 3.3mm. The rubies are lively bright stones and vary in size, measuring approximately 4.4mm x 4mm to 5mm x 3mm. Total gross weight approximately 19.7grams.
