† A well executed Georgian half length watercolour of Lt Colonel John McKenzie, 5th Regiment of Foot, in full dress with epaulettes, in an oval with regimental motto “Quo Fata Vocant” at the top, crossed standards at the bottom, a scroll “Lost and Lamented for Ever” and tablet inscribed “Lieut Col John McKenzie of the 5th Regt of Foot. Was killed at Corunna in an Action between the Advance Posts on the 15th of Jany 1809. Copy of a picture presented to the officers of the 5th Regt. as a Memento of Friendship by His Disconsolate Widow”, framed in black and gilt, by R. Jackson Sons, Liverpool, 10½” x 9”. Good Condition (5 small wormholes not affecting the painted area). Plate 24
A fine oil painting on canvas of an officer of The 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards, seated in full dress, his arm resting on the hilt of his mameluke sword, with belt buckle “4DG”, his 1812-18 pattern helmet on a table beside him, wearing a Waterloo medal (he evidently transferred to the 4th D. Guards as they were not at Waterloo), 11½” x 9½”, framed in gilt. Good Condition, Plate 27

Killed during the Napoleonic campaign at Bayonne, France, April 14th, 1814. Painting in Very Good Condition (edges of frame chipped). Plate 32

An infantry officer’s dress sword c 1800, tapering hollow triangular section blade 33½”, etched with an arm emerging from a cloud, the hand holding a sword and ribbons, the other devices and stylized scrolls, gilt hilt with shallow upturned shell guard, crossguard and token pas d’ane rings, knucklebow and urn pommel, the top of the guard and pommel engraved with stylized floral chains, simulated banded and wirebound grip, in its white patent leather (some wear) scabbard with engraved locket, with one ring, and chape. Very Good Condition, retaining approximately 85% original gilt. Plate 66
A 1796 type infantry officer’s dress sword, shallow diamond section blade 32½”, the centre flattened for most of its length, etched with pre 1801 Royal Arms and supporters, scrolling and “For My Country & King”, on both sides, flat double shell guard with plain outlined panels, knucklebow and quillon, octagonal V shaped urn pommel with prominent stud, simulated wirebound grip. Good Condition the hilt retaining approximately 85% original gilt (light wear and pitting to blade). Plate 66
