(2.6g), together with a hallmarked 9ct. gold dress ring, set central round brilliant cut sapphire flanked by clear round cut stones to either side. (1.9g) (2)
A Third Reich Forestry official’s dress cutlass, of similar style to an Assistant Foresters, the 13” plated blade etched with panels depicting deer in a woodland setting and hunter shooting at a stag, the gilt hilt having shell guard and ivorine grips with gilt acorns, in its gilt mounted leather sheath. GC, the blade VGC, the gilt good (slight wear to scabbard leather, one grip ill fitting, possibly due to shrinkage). Plate 7
A late 18th century light company officer’s service sword, plain steeply curved, flat blade 26”, DE at point, pronounced steel stirrup hilt, the crossguard with langets, into knucklebow and plain forward sloping pommel and backstrap, ribbed leather (worn) covered grip, in its steel scabbard (some shallow dents) with 2 rings, marked “Prosser....” (unclear) with dress knot (worn). Basically GC for age.
1997 Princess Diana: a particularly good portrait in pastel and chalk on paper by Barbara Kaczmarowska Hamilton depicting the Princess head and shoulders looking slightly to sinister against a sky background, signed and dated B. Hamilton 97, contained in the original gilt gesso and painted glazed frame, 760 x 680mm overall excluding cresting (commemorative, commemorate, royal) *Painted by the artist and generously presented to the Treloar Trust who subsequently offered this painting at a charity auction held during their Summer Charity Ball from where it was acquired by the vendor. Depicted in a round necked blue dress, wearing heart shaped pearls with matching earrings, inspiration for this stylish composition quite probably came, with a degree of artistic licence towards the jewellery, from the visit by the Princess of Wales to Russia in June 1995 where she received the International Leonardo Prize (honouring distinguished patrons of medicine, sports and the arts).Barbara Kaczmarowska Hamilton (Basia Hamilton) is an acclaimed society portrait painter. She was born in Poland and now resides in Britain. Amongst those who have sat for her are His Holiness John Paul II, together with other world leaders and Heads of State also members of the British Royal Family including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, HRH the Princess Royal, HRH the Duke of Kent and HRH Prince Michael of Kent. Scots), General Service Medal, GRVI, single clasp Palestine (3047638 C.Sjt. W.B. Crichton. R. Scots),1939-45 Defence Medal, and Long Service Good Conduct Medal, GRV, clasp Regular Army (3047638 Sjt. W.B. Crichton R. Scots), officially impressed, mounted for wearing, and an Order of Merit 1st Class Corps of Commissionaires, with related dress miniatures; together with a Korean War pair to Private J.W. Crichton, Army Service Corps, Highland Brigade (son of the above), comprising Korea Medal (S/2272634 Pte. J.W. Crichton. R.A.S.C.) and United Nations Service Medal (un-named as issued), clasp Korea, in their original card box of issue; with a related National Service Discharge Army Book 111, an R.A.S.C. cloth brassard and a collection of personal photographs, some inscribed verso. Note: Walter Burgess Crichton joined the army on the 5th of August 1914 and was discharged on the 31st of January 1919. He re-enlisted with the colours on the 7th of July 1921, and served continually until the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939. He ended his long military career as an officer with the Home Guard. The collection includes his Glengarry bearing bi-metal cap badge of the Royal Scots, Regular Army Certificate of Service, Soldier's Service & Pay Book, Regimental photographs including 'D. (M.G.)
