A Uniform to Major J W B Hext, 4th King`s Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster), comprising Number 1 Dress Blues Tunic and two pairs of trousers, Number 2 Dress khaki tunic and trousers, battledress blouse and trousers, mess dress jacket, waistcoat and trousers, pair of black leather boots, a Sam Browne belt, and an 1897 Pattern Infantry Officers sword with steel scabbard, leather service scabbard and leather cloth slip case, all contained in a black japanned tin trunk with brass label engraved "C H Hext".

Marjorie Taylder (b. 30 March 1730, d. 25 October 1795 at Lostwithiel). One of the sons of Samuel and Majorie Hext was John Hext (b.15 Nov 1766) and who was presented with the silver hot water urn and the pair of neo-classical two-handled vases also included in this sale. John Hext is the great great great great grandfather of the present vendors.

SIR WILLIAM BEECHEY R.A. (1755-1839) AFTER SIR JOSHUA REYNOLDS PRA - Portrait of Mrs Mary Robinson, half length, wearing a black dress and hat, a landscape beyond, inscribed `Mrs Mary Robinson`, oils on canvas in carved giltwood frame, 29" x 24". (see illustration). This painting was one of a number of copies painted by Beechey after Reynolds which according to James Northcote so impressed Reynolds that when he saw them side by side he declared he had great difficulty in recognising his own works.
