18th Century English School/Portrait of a Lady/seated on a red chair wearing a white satin dress with blue ribbons, her right arm resting on a marble table/bears inscription lower left/oil on canvas, 74cm x 61cm/see illustration Condition Report: Relined and restored. Larger areas of damage evident to the right side of her head and above her left arm on same side. Dulling and cracking to paint surface in these areas. Craqueleure to surface throughout but predominantly to either side of head, neck and face. Repaired holes in various isolated areas - see images. Yellowing to varnish. Some isolated spots of paint loss.

James Dickson Innes and Augustus John were painting together in North Wales crca 1910-1912; the period is described in the BBC documentary 'The Mountain That Had to be Painted' (2013). We have been unable to confirm the accuracy of this story, however the figure certainly shows the influence of John and its position within the landscape lends the painting a surreal air. Condition Report: Some cracking to surface throughout. There is what appears to be a possible finger print to edge on left side. A 'halo' appearance around the head of the figure, otherwise overall appears good. Some slight surface dirt.
A silver filigree pendant necklace, the elaborate pendant with hinged glazed compartment to reverse, and a marcasite dress ring, cased Condition Report: Ring - 1 x missing marcasite, 2 x damaged.Necklace - 4 x trefoil drops missing and a number of small bead drops. Marked to clasp - illegible. Glass back cracked. 42cm long. 47.5gm approx.
Fine Victorian tinted albumen photographic portrait of HRH Prince Arthur aged 8 years, wearing traditional Highland dress and leaning on a chair back with his right leg crossed - in original moulded gilt gesso frame with white oval slip mount - inscribed in gold 'Arthur 1858' and on gilt outer slip 'Prince Arthur', the reverse with original W. Thomas framers label and Windsor Castle inventory stamp 1872 no. 542 and Queens Personal Property crowned VR stamp - the image 16cm x 12cm, the frame 31cm x 26.5cm. Provenance: Given by HRH Prince Arthur The Duke of Connaught to his personal nurse Miss Charlotte Haskins, who nursed him in his later years until his death in 1942 - for which she received the M.V.O. and a R.R.C. Sold with the lot is a signed and inscribed print from Lady Patricia Ramsay, along with two letters from her regarding the death of Miss Haskins. A letter from the Queen of Denmark regarding the death of Miss Haskins, an envelope addressed by HM Queen Elizabeth to The Duke of Connaught, dated 1938 and related ephemera and press cuttings
