A 1930s French Art Deco marble, onyx and bronzed spelter mantel clock, the rectangular silvered dial with Arabic numerals and plated bezel, fronting a single train movement, a/f, on a canted black marble case faced with onyx panels, surmounted by a cast metal figure of a seated lady and a bronzed spelter figure of a seated Alsatian dog, 15in. (38cm.) high, 19¾in. (50cm.) long. * Condition: The movement is wound but is not running and therefore requires attention. The glass is loose. The case is in good condition, with a few tiny chips to the edges of the base and two spots of surface corrosion to the lady's dress. The dog is loose on its mounting.

Hilda Margaret Islay, the daughter of Lord Southampton, in 1928. Awarded the OBE in 1940 for his services in Palestine, he finally retired from the army as an acting Brigadier in 1945. From 1955 until 1961 he served as an Extra Equerry to HM The Queen, for which he received the CVO.F. Phillips of Wellington Street, Aldershot are recorded between 1890-1963, latterly trading as F.
