*Rare pair of linen lacis work panels, the design arranged in two registers, one with a mirror image of a lady in a flared dress and wide sleeves apparently standing on a horse accompanied by smaller human figures, birds etc., each major set of motifs facing inward towards a central tree; the other register consisting of pairs of Janus-headed griffins arranged either side of a tree similar to that in the first register, with smaller heraldic motifs including an eagle, lion etc. Italy or northern Europe, probably 16th or early 17th century, 87in and 84in. x 26in. 221cm. and 213cm. x 66cm. Small breaks in places, slight stains in plain sides. (2)
An attractive Victorian striped silk dress, with alternate formal and informal tops, the skirt with ornate applied trim on one side, English mid 19th century. With associated machine bertha lace collar, pair of embroidered silk mittens and a short length of lace edging, the informal top with appliqué scalloped silk ribbon and front and cuffs. Slight staining and some shattering. Also a lady’s home made formal evening gown, in rayon damask with net covered shoulders decorated with sequins, English about 1950, and a pair of Harrods court shoes in silver brocade, early 1950s, in original Harrods box. Together with associated invitations, including one to Lord Mayor’s Banquet, 15 March, 1951. The dress made from pre-war curtain or other domestic furnishing material; both it and shoes showing signs of wear. Together with various items of theatrical costume, including a 17th century style sailor’s white cotton duck bell bottom trousers and associated blue waistcoat, a red and black velvet peasant skirt and red silk ankle socks, two black headscarves, one with applied stars, a black velvet bodice and blouse, the latter with white trim, a tambourine, etc. all 20th century. Sold as a collection with all faults not subject to return. (3 boxes)
An early 19th century poured wax shoulder-headed doll, with blue glass eyes and pale blonde hair, cloth over composition (?) upper body, cloth lower body, cloth upper limbs with wax lower limbs in an exquisite ivory silk dress finely embroidered in silver and gold metal thread and decorated with chenille flowers and foliage, trimmed with lace to the collar, bodice, wrists and hem, the dress inset cotton panel at the back, original white cotton undergarment trimmed with lace. 20in. (51cm.) high. Crack to shoulder plate; forefingers on both hands missing; chip to left heel and cracks to left leg. Shattering to silk dress.
A mid-19th century poured wax shoulder-headed doll, with blue glass eyes and light brown hair, cloth body and upper limbs with wax lower limbs in plain blue cotton dress and underskirt with a white cotton hat trimmed with blue silk ribbon, white cotton cape and apron, around her neck is a blue silk ribbon with a silver threepenny piece dated 1822; and wearing three layers of original undergarments. 17in. (43cm.) high. Cracks to shoulder plate at back; right foot mis-shapen. One knitted shoe missing.

A fine Victorian officer’s full dress sabretache of the 10th (The Prince of Wales’s Own Royal) Light Dragoons (Hussars), scarlet cloth with gilt lace border, embroidered with a coronet superimposed on the Prince of Wales’s feathers and motto, a large VR cypher, “X” and five battle honour scrolls “Peninsula” to “Afghanistan 1878-79” on a wreath, red morocco pouch and flap, large size 11½” x 13½”, with gilt lace suspension straps and gilt and silver plated buckles. A 1796 pattern infantry officer’s sword, straight fullered blade 32”, etched Wooley & Deakin within oval border, crowned 1801-16 Royal Arms, crowned GR cypher, trophies and floral devices, and blued and gilt for half its length, regulation gilt hilt with shell guard (the inner guard folding down), knucklebow and urn shaped pommel, simulated wirebound grip, with gilt dress knot. Good Condition the blade retaining approx 50% blueing and gilding. Plate 24
A good Elizabeth II Royal Air Force officer’s sword, straight fullered blade 32½” by Wilkinson Sword Ltd, no 92852 on backstrap, etched with crowned Royal Arms and crown and eagle badge within foliate blank scroll panels, heavy gilt half basket hilt incorporating crowned ERII cypher and crown over eagle badge, wirebound sharkskin grip, eagle’s head pommel and backstrap, gilt and sky blue dress knot, in its gilt mounted leather scabbard. A good William IV courtsword, slender DE blade 30”, by P & R Firmin, 153 Strand, London, etched with crowned WRIV cypher and wreath within plain panels, gilt hilt with crossguard, turn down shell with applied crowned WR cypher in wreath and studded border, knucklebow, crown pommel, wirebound grip, with dress knot (worn) in its gilt mounted leather scabbard with frog. GC, the blade retaining much original polish, the gilt good (scabbard leather scuffed, dark rust marks to edge of blade). Plate 6
