STO. 1, R.N.); 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star, France and Germany Bar; Africa Star, North Africa 1942-43 clasp; Pacific Star; Italy Star; 1939-45 War Medal with MID emblem, mounted for wearing; good very fine [7]; together with a mounted group of corresponding dress miniatures.
A collection of Austrian dress miniature decorations, mainly gilt, silvered and enamelled, and comprising: Merit Cross for Military Chaplains with swords, Gold Cross of Merit, Military Merit Cross with War Decoration (2), Merit Cross for Services to the Red Cross with War Decoration, Merit Cross for Services to the Red Cross without War Decoration (2 - one with bow ribbon), Red Cross Silver Medal (1) and Bronze Medal (2), War Cross for Civil Merits (enamelled), another (bronze), Iron Cross with Imperial Crown, Iron Cross of Merit; together with a miniature cross of the Order Pro Merito Melitensi (Malta). Major General Henry Edward Manning Douglas, V.C., C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O., Royal Army Medical Corps: a presentation silver cigarette box, engraved dedication from the staff of the Royal Army Medical College October 13th 1929, facsimile signatures to the sides, Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co., London 1928; together with an Indian ivory statuette of the General, in dress uniform, wearing his orders, decorations and medals, his hand resting on the hilt of an 1831 pattern general officer's sword, the base engraved 'DOUGLAS V.C. and 'K.R. DESH PANDE FECIT POONA''; and a plaster bust of the general, by the same designer, dated 2nd August 1932. [3] See lot 7
An Austrian model 1889 state official's dress sword, slightly curved fullered blade 28.75 in., etched panels displaying trophies of arms amid scrolling foliage, ricasso marked for Weyersberg & Stamm, Solingen; brass hilt (originally gilt) with openwork foliate decoration incorporating the Imperial arms, shagreen grip; leather covered steel scabbard with embossed brass mounts, the locket bearing the cypher of Franz Joseph I.

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire: The Medal of the Order for Meritorious Service (British Empire Medal) to Miss Lenora Cornish, with bow ribbon (MISS LENORA CORNISH), in original card box and together with a dress miniature BEM; accompanied by a small collection of associated photographs and documents giving an insight into Miss Cornish's valuable work for the aircraft manufacturer A.V. Roe & Company Ltd. B.E.M. London Gazette 12th June 1947 (Assistant Stock Controller). At the time of this award Miss Cornish had already worked for A.V. Roe for 30 years, including, of course, the critical period of the Second World War. She would not retire until 1960.

English School, early 18th centuryPortrait of a lady, bust length, in a brown dressoil on canvas64 x 48.5cmCondition report: Oil on canvas which has been lined at an early stage of its history. The canvas tension is slightly slack but the picture is generally in plane. The paint layers have a network of age cracks which are slightly raised in several areas. The cracks have imbibed dirt over time becoming prominent in the lighter paint passages such as the sitter’s face. There are old damages present in the sitter’s chest which have been filled and retouched. The varnish is degraded, becoming discoloured and brittle with abrasion around the edges.
