Two Chinese archaic jade figures of a man, probably Western Zhou to Han dynasty, the smaller highly stylised human figure in green and brown mottled jade, cf. Charles Stanley Nott, Chinese Jade, 1936, plate XI for a similar figure in the Eumorfopoulos collection, British museum, described as Western Zhou, 6.3 cm high and the second figure carved as an official, his robes with low relief with C scrolls, in green black and russet jade, cf. Jade figures with similar features, Chinese Jade throughout the ages, exhibition catalogue 1 May – 22 June 1975 Victoria and Albert Museum with similar features, figures 140-142.The smaller figure has some slight abrasion and dullness to the surface indicating it may once have been buried.
