Sir Michael Knight's 35 years RAF service as a frontline pilot and commander culminated in membership of the Air Force Board and three years as the UK's Military representative to NATO. In that time, he gained experience in a wide variety of operational and staff roles and flew well over 100 types of aircraft, from Tiger Moth to Tornado. Retiring as an Air Chief Marshal, he then reverted to the rank of flying officer in the RAFVR, in which he spent the next eight years giving air experience flying to young ATC and CCF cadets

Royal Navy dress sword attributed to Captain David Peter Seely, with lion head pommel, wire bound shagreen grip, folding guard engraved Hon D.P Seely R.N, sword knot, 80cm fullered blade, scabbard, hilt by Gieves Ltd and sword sling, with copy research paperwork. Captain David Peter Seely, 4th Baron Mottistone CBE KStJ (16 December 1920 - 24 November 2011) was a British peer. Seely was born in 1920, he was the eldest son of the 1st Baron Mottistone from his second marriage to Evelyn Izme Murray, daughter of Montolieu Oliphant-Murray, 1st Viscount Elibank and 10th Lord Elibank. He was a grandson of Sir Charles Seely, 1st Baronet, his godparents were Winston Churchill and the then Duke of Cornwall (subsequently Edward VIII, and then later Duke of Windsor). He served in the Royal Navy, reaching the rank of captain before retiring in 1966. He commanded Cossack between 1958 and 1959 and Ajax between 1963 and 1965 and was Lord Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight from 1986 to 1995 and the last Governor of the Isle of Wight from 1992 to 1995, where the Seely family have played a prominent role since the 1850's. He was made an Honorary Doctor of Literature by Bournemouth University in 1993 and a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1984. He was also a member of the Royal Yacht Squadron. He died on 24 Novemeber 2011 and was succeeded by his eldest son Peter John Philip Seely born 29 October 1949, godson of the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Brown pinxit 1742', the other 'N Brown pinxit 1742', oil on canvas91 x 71cm (2)Condition report: Both paintings are in oil on canvas and are unlined. The edges of the canvas on the portrait of a Gentleman are failing, the canvas has lost tension. There is a large tear at the lower edge with a surrounding deformation. The portrait of a Lady also has smaller tears and punctures to the canvas; one at the top edge has been repaired from the reverse with a canvas patch. The paint layers on both works have areas of raised, flaking paint in the lower sections with scattered losses. The thicker passages of paint flesh have developed networks of age cracks which appear very dark. The varnish layers have degraded, as well as becoming dark and yellowed the varnish is also losing saturation and turning opaque, this is evident in the gentleman’s jacket.
