Three Unframed Fashion Sketches by Veronica Papworth, stamped and dated to the reverse 1972 and 1973, with pencil marks around the margins; Seven Handmade Christmas Cards by Norman Hartnell, mounted with beads and jewelled stones sent to Veronica, dating from 1968, all handwritten inside; Framed Fragment of a Dress Worn by Queen Elizabeth II, green velvet leaves edged with beads on a very pale green silk, bearing Norman Hartnell's signature; one volume Silver and Gold by Norman Hartnell, with dust wrapper, signed 'to Veronica Papworth from Norman Hartnell (12) Veronica 'Vee' Papworth (1913-1992) was born in North London, and from the age of 17 began working by illustrating gentlemen's clothes in catalogues. In 1946 she jointed The Star illustrating and commentating on women's fashions, leading on to discuss beauty, fitness and how to run a home etc. By the late 1950s she was employed by the Sunday Express to write her own column, which she wrote about numerous subjects, incorporating her stylish fashion drawings.

BARRIE J. M.: (1860-1937) Scottish Novelist, created Peter Pan. A.L.S., J. M. Barrie, two pages, 8vo, Adelphi Terrace House, Strand, 27th May n.y., to [Dion Clayton] Calthrop. Barrie writes to his correspondent regarding a fancy dress and informs Calthrop that a lady has written to him 'wanting to add a touch' by 'carrying a banner with the four lines I told you of on it and wearing a domino - for the early part of the evening'. Barrie further states that he has 'some twenty quotations & cryptic utterances' to put on the dress which vary in length between 10 and 30 words and adds that the longer ones should be conspicuous on the bodies, suggesting one on the front and one on the back, and that all should be easily readable. The novelist further adds a small illustration in his hand of several sheets of parchment intended to have writing on them which he provides as a suggestion to Calthrop before concluding 'It is so good of you'. With blank integral leaf. Together with Hilda Trevelyan (1880-1959) English Actress associated with the plays of J. M. Barrie and famous for creating the role of Wendy in Peter Pan. A.L.S., Hilda Trevelyan, one page, 8vo, Great Portland Street, 27th March 1911, to [Dion Clayton] Calthrop. The actress asks her correspondent 'Have you a one act play that would suit me?' and continues 'Mr. Barrie mentioned a play of yours that was done at the St. James at a matinee. Would you be so kind as to allow me to read it?'. Some light age wear, about VG, 2 Dion Clayton Calthrop (1878-1937) British Artist, Illustrator and author of works on the history of English costumes.
