A stunning early 1960s ballgown by 'Chanelle'. The dress is in a vibrant orange/yellow and grey-green floral print on lined chiffon. A net, stiffener and hooped underskirt give the dress a fabulous full skirt.which flares and pleats from the waist. The bodice is boned and reinforced also with stiffener and features one ruched strap. Garment fastens at the back with a metal zip. There is a mark to the front of this garment. Approximate size 10.
A stunning 1950s 'Norman Hartnell' full length ball gown. A beautifully structured and tailored dress by one of the master designers of mid-century glamour. This dress has a boned, fitted bodice falling to a very slight drop waist which along with the interior hip pads accentuates the fullness of the skirt. There are further layers of net and heavy underskirting to create more volume. The dress is entirely of cream lace with two bands of hand-sewn sequins across the bodice and around the perimeter of the skirt. Hartnell has cleverly inserted two strips of lilac coloured net underneath the cream lace which highlights the sequin and bead work beautifully. There is some superficial damage to this garment - the halter strap is in need of restoration or replacement and part of the heavy underskirt also could be replaced or mended. However, the beading and lace areas are intact and sound. The most noticeable area of attention should be the cleaning of the dress which once done could make this lovely piece as good as new.
A pretty pink 1960's full-length chiffon gown with floral embroidery and diamante detailing to the bodice and labelled 'Mann Maid' size 12 although more like a 10.
