Emilio Fiaschi (Italian, 1858-1941): A carved alabaster figural group of 'The Artist's Muse'modelled as a young artist in Renaissance dress holding a palette and leaning over a scantily clad maiden seated in a Savonarola chair with paw feet, the whole raised on an integral base, signed and dated indistinctly, inscribed to the front ANNO 1818, (some damage to the artists palette and the muse's foot), 82cm highFootnotes:Emilio Fiaschi was one of a group of highly skilled marble sculptors working in Florence in the late 19th and early 20th century. Concentrating on genre themes and the female nude during the Belle Époque period, the Fiaschi studio produced marble and alabaster editions with great consistency of quality for wealthy visitors and also exported to the rest of Europe and the USA. Late 19th / Early 20th Century Naval officers dress sword, having single fullered etched blade with gilt brass basket and shagreen wire twist grip handle and brass and leather scabbard, the blade measuring 31.45insSome minor damages to wire around handle, some minor rust marks to blade. Some wire on grip has come loose. Losses to gilding on grip and most of gilt on scabbard has worn away. Blade is in good condition. No information on history

Case width at maximum 42mm.Some slight dents and one scratch to back otherwise in reasonable condition for its age. No rim dents. Gross weight is 36.5g
Ding Ding's design combines her love of geometric pattern and ethnographic costume. Eastern Europe has a long relationship with the brown bear, and she wanted to borrow from the traditional costume of that area.
