An Art Deco cased mother-of-pearl, diamond and enamel dress stud and cufflink set, c.1925,each square mother-of-pearl plaque with a raised, ridged centre, with a line of two baguette cut diamonds, rub set to a black enamel border. The cufflinks with carabiner clips and detachable plates, four buttons and two studs, one deficient. Tested as approximately 18ct white gold and platinum
RICHARD COSWAY R.A. (1742-1821) Portrait of a lady wearing white dress, her grey hair plaited in a wreath, sky background, on ivory 6 x 5 cms in 19th century frame bordered with brilliants. An inscription on a label c.1900 on reverse gives the identity of the sitter as Susan Countess of Guilford*. The miniature has been seen and authenticated as being the work of Cosways by Dr. Stephen Lloyd. *For an illustration of a drawing by Cosway of Susan Coutts, Countess of Guilford with her daughters and stepdaughter dated 1801 see Lloyd Dr. Stephen, "The Cosway Inventory of 1820" Walpole Society 2004 (Vol. LXVI) fig.129.
