Whilst at the Royal College of Art she became engaged to the Welsh artist, Stanley Lewis, and she features in one of his most famous paintings, Hyde Park, holding a parasol, but they did not marry. Muriel Pemberton later taught fashion design and drawing at Saint Martin`s School of Art, becoming Head of Fashion and Design at the School. Pemberton was an innovative teacher, encouraging her students in experimental fashion - her students included such luminaries as Katherine Hamnett and Bruce Oldfield
