Leinster Regiment: A group of four Irish Military Uniforms, including an officers red jacket, and trousers, officers red coatee, waistcoat and trousers, an officers black jacket, waistcoat and trousers; and an earlier black dress jacket, waistcoat and trousers. All with badges, buttons, etc. As a collection, w.a.f. (1) Provenance: The Farrell Family, Co. Meath.
Sir Gerald Festus Kelly, 1879-1972 A "Half-length Portrait of Lady Gregory", wearing a black dress with diamond cross, and a mantilla, and seated by a table with hands crossed", O.O.C., 76 x 63.5cms (30" x 25") signed and dated in top left corner, in original gilt frame. Sir G.F. Kelly born a Londoner, but married an Irish Woman 'Jane Ryan'. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Hibernian Academy from 1905 and was elected an Academician in 1914. One of the paintings listed in the Exhibition of 1914 was No. 219 - Lady Gregory. From an early day she was a friend of Hugh Lane, who possibly commissioned this dignified and accomplished Portrait of his Aunt. In addition, the frame contains an old exhibition label which reads the 'Royal Academy of Arts, Diploma Gallery, 1957 (Kelly Exhibition). The name and address of owner at that time was Mrs. Guy Gough, The Old House, Bramley, Surrey. Provenance : Direct descent of the Gough Family to the present owner, a direct descendant of Lady Gregory.
