A vintage composite three dimensional "no smoking" or "quit smoking" sign, mid 20th century, modelled as a cigarette tied in a knot with hanging chains at each end, 69cm long, with a vintage composite model of a young lady in 1950s style dress, 89.5cm high (2) (at fault) CONDITION REPORT:Smoking sign - shows cracks to the surface and small losses to the surface layer throughout (some poorly filled).1950s lady - shows an open seam down the right hand side, losses to the hair, some cracks to the surface and various areas of over painting.
A Victorian 2nd Life Guards officer's 1874 pattern "State" sword, blade 36" with hatchet point, the ricasso etched "B. GRACE Master Tailor" in foliate panel, the regulation pattern hilt having applied brass "2LG" cypher and crown, and fish skin covered grip, in its brass mounted steel scabbard. Basically GC (part of the brass cypher and grip wire missing, surface rust to scabbard, throat mount retaining screws missing). Although referred to by Robson as the 1874 pattern, he states that it was first mentioned in the 1872 Dress Regulations and that an example with hatchet point is known to be from 1860. £150-200
Demetre H. Chiparus (Romanian/French 1886-1947), 'Eternal Story' a cold-painted spelter and 'ivorine' group presented on an onyx and slate clock with matching garniture,c.1930, the clock face signed 'Galicce Toulon',Modelled and cast as a romantic scene of Pierrot and Pierette mounted on the top of the central clock, flanked with two garniture, the stepped base set with a rectangular clock face, with key,54 cm high, 69.5 cm long, 19.5 cm deep, garniture 22.5 cm high, 18.7 cm wide, 13 cm deep, (3)Literature: Alberto Shayo, Chiparus Master of Art Deco, Abberville Press, 1993, p.90 (similar figurative model illustrated)Pierettes 'ivorine' face has been over painted. There are a few marks to Pierrots face but generally good and the hands are also in good condition. There are some losses to finish on Pierettes dress. In general some aging and wear to surfaces with rubbing to high points. There are some nicks and chips to edges of the onyx and slate.(Ivorine is a man made composition/material made to simulate ivory.)
