Perrin Esq, 3rd Royal Scots, with blue collar and scarlet Russia braid loops to cuffs and side pocket-flaps, shoulder-straps bearing gilt star and initial M (collar-badges removed, two large buttons missing from front); and a Major`s khaki Service Dress doublet by Wm Anderson & Sons, tailor`s label named to Capt D. Greig, April 1948, with bronze buttons, collar-badges and badges of rank, four medal ribbons, with MiD oakleaf emblem to War Medal and GSM; a pair of strapped trews in Hunting Stewart tartan, by Marshall & Aitken, Edinburgh, and named to Col Sir JM Clark (?); and an officer`s waistbelt of an auxiliary battalion, with white metal waistplate (6)

A COLLECTION OF DOCUMENTS OF ROYAL SCOTS INTEREST A Commission dated July 1915 to 2nd Lieutenant WS Gavin, 16th Battalion Royal Scots, in a glazed frame; an album, in relic condition, the cover named to Captain C. Daniel, The Royal Scots, containing some 35 loose stiff cards 17in. x 14in., mounted on both sides with an assortment of photographs, newspaper cuttings etc, relating mainly to the 1st Battalion`s tour of duty in Chatham c.1894 - 97; photographs include images of parades, formal and informal groups in uniform and plain clothes, and other military events, together with many family photographs and domestic scenes; a large quantity of material relating to Lieutenant T.W. Reynolds, 1st Battalion, including certificates, lecture-notes, proformas, reports, précis and examination papers of the RMC Sandhurst, in the mid-1920s; some postcards printed from regimental photographs, and a few small photographic portraits of soldiers, a hardback copy of "Souvenir of the Queen`s Brigade" by Capt Moir-Bryce, 2nd RVB, published 1889, a record of Queen Mary`s visit to the 2nd Battalion in Redford Barracks Edinburgh in 1920, a Tercentenary souvenir of 1933, a hard-back pamphlet dated 1935 containing Dress Regulations for 7th/9th Highlanders Battalion RS, plus regimental journals, Christmas cards etc; a Commission on parchment, dated September 1818, appointing John Arthur Allen Esq to command a company of the 64th Foot; a certificate on parchment that JA Allen successfully attended the Royal Military College from February 1819 to December 1820, and another commission, signed by William IV, appointing him to command a company in the 1st Foot; another commission, also signed by William IV, appointing Frederick (?) Meir to be an ensign in the same regiment; a Certificate from No.2 Record Office, Hamilton, confirming that Pte George Burnside of the Royal Scots was disabled during the Great War and honourably discharged in January 1920; and three coloured prints showing uniforms of the Royal Scots at various dates (lot)
A FINE 54 BORE ALSATIAN PERCUSSION TARGET RIFLE BY J. G. ZELLER, ARNHEM, CIRCA 1852-70 with three-stage barrel, formed with a series of recessed elongated panels divided by slender ribs over the forward section and octagonal over the breech, the latter signed in gold letters, fitted with German silver fore-sight, blued adjustable back-sight, engraved with tightly scrolling foliage over the breech, chiselled with foliage inhabited by a reclining hound on the tang and fitted with fully adjustable peep-sight, chiselled flush-fitting lock decorated with a resting stag and a wild boar, chiselled hammer, figured walnut full stock carved with chequering and neo-rococo scrolls over the fore-end and the grip, the latter including a wildman mask (cracked through and expertly repaired), the left of the butt with raised cheek-piece inlaid with silver wire scrolls along the base, the rear carved in high relief with a felled stag, and a hound seeing off a wolf, the right of the butt carved with further scrolls inhabited by a crossbowman and a putto in renaissance dress, engraved and chiselled steel mounts comprising small side-plate decorated with a coiled monster, butt-plate formed with a pair of elongated prongs, the tang engraved with the French crowned Royal Arms and the inscription `J.G. Zeller, Geoctrooljeerd Joor Arms Z. M. Den Keijzer Det Franzchen`, trigger-guard chiselled with a hound and three ramrod-pipes, German silver barrel bolt escutcheons, and a pair of sling swivels, and brass-tipped wooden ramrod 80.5cm; 31 3/4in barrelThis maker is recorded circa 1840-70.
A PAIR OF 22 BORE HIGHLAND FLINTLOCK DRESS BELT PISTOLS FORMED ENTIRELY OF STEEL BY MACLEOD, BIRMINGHAM PROOF MARKS, SECOND HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY with swamped multi-stage barrels faceted at the muzzle section, etched over the greater part of their surface with thistle flowers and foliage, a trophy-of-arms and the motto `Nemo Me Impune Lacessit`, moulded breeches incorporating the back-sights, signed engraved locks, fitted with rollers and rainproof pans, three-quarter stocks, etched and blued with further designs of thistle foliage enriched with silver, including the figure of St Andrew beneath the locks (bluing worn), inlaid on each side of the butt with a silver escutcheon, one vacant, one with the owner`s crest and initials `JW` beneath the motto `Ne Cede` and the other pistol with a further crest beneath the motto `Fit Fiave` on each side, slender belt hooks, globular steel triggers inlaid with a silver cross on the bottom, thistle-shaped prickers inlaid in silver en suite, one retaining its ramrod (the other ramrod and ramrod-pipe missing) 32.3cm; 12 3/4in (2)
