The Coronation robes and coronets for the Earl and Countess of Cavan, originally purchased in the second quarter of the 19th century, each coronet designed as a gilt metal circlet with eight upright stylised leaves, interspersed with eight silver plated balls on raised spikes, the crimson caps with gilt metal thread tassels to centre, the base rim lined with ermine fur, both retailed by Garrard & Co. Ltd., London and both with accompanying velvet and ermine robes and a dress for the Countess, Earl's coronet approx. 15cm high, 22.5cm diameter, Countess's coronet approx. 12cm high, 15cm diameter, together with a further silver plated coronet of the same design, 13cm high, 17cm diameter (6) Note to the interior of the Earl's coronet This coronet first worn at the Coronation of her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria by Fredrick 8th Earl of Cavan Thursday June 28th 1838 This coronet was worn by 10th Earl at Coronation of King Edward VII 1902 and at Coronation of King George V June 22nd 1911 Field Marshall 10th Earl of Cavan, commanded the troops, rode in the procession, was also in the Abbey and wore this coronet at the Coronation of King George VI 12th May 1937
