There are no more iconic or long lasting horror creations than the vampiric Count Dracula or the man-made monster of Frankenstein. Originally released by Universal in 1931 then constantly re-issued on a regular basis since. They are as popular today as ever they were. The US One-Sheet for "Dracula" comes from an unspecified 1960s release and features Bela Lugosi as Dracula just about to plunge his fangs into another female victim. Largely black-and-white the only concession to colour being the red of his victim's dress and the spider web background. To complement this piece (and from the same re-release period) we are also offering a One-Sheet for "Frankenstein" (1931) in this auction. "Outer space now belongs to James Bond 007". At the time of its release in 1979, "Moonraker" was the highest grossing 007 movie to date. Beautiful detailed Daniel Gouzee artwork was the highlight for all of the "Moonraker" campaign and this final design US One-Sheet really does emphasise this. It features a suave Roger Moore in a shiny silver space suit, the only time on any Bond poster campaign Moore was depicted wearing anything other than a dress suit.27" x 41" (69 x 104 cm)Additional Information: NSS #790012Condition: ExcellentUnrestored, folded (as issued). FINE JAPANESE SHIJO BRUSH DRAWING ATTRIBUTED TO ONISHI CHINNEN 1792-1851 This superb unsigned drawing is unmistakably the work of the great Shijo master, Chinnen. Originally it would have formed part of a “gajo” folding album which would only have been signed on the last work in the album. It has been the fate of many such albums to be broken up and the drawings sold separately. Here we see the epitome of the Shijo style with its fluent and utterly confident brush strokes and its subtle colouring. The subject is a child in Chinese costume and hairstyle kneeling before a bunch of fruit. In Japan at the time, it was not unusual to dress children in Chinese style. 33cm x 29.5cm Professionally backed in Japan and has some worm damage at the right and left vertical edges, which does not encroach upon the painting. The work was published in the 1991 catalogue, Japanese Brush Drawings, of the London dealer, Richard Kruml (plate 10). Provenance: the late Brian Page (1938-2018), the well-known Oriental art and antiques dealer from Brighton.
