Pino Daeni (1939-2010) Italian/American, a three-quarter length portrait of a woman in a red dress and apron, oil on canvas laid onto board, signed to lower right corner, 60 cm x 49.5 cm in a painted wood frame.Footnote: Provenance: Private collection, with no written history.Condition report: Good condition with no apparent damage or repair. Colours still bright. Some slight wear and staining to the frame.
A FINE SCOTTISH SILVER AND STEEL FLINTLOCK DRESS PISTOL BY MARSHALL OF EDINBURGH. With a 17.5cm four stage barrel with a flared octagonal muzzle, profusely engraved centre and fluted section, the steel and silver body similarly decorated with a small image of a game bird in a landscape to the underside. The handle with twin vacant oval cartouches and 'rams horn' terminal with central ball, mounted to the left with a finely pierced and engraved belt hook. The action with button trigger, the cock with decorative pierced disk, ramrod lacking. Signed to the side plate Marshall & Sons 87 George Street, Edinburgh. 25cm. AN UNUSUAL HEAVY CAVALRY OFFICERS SWORD. The sword with an 80cm double edged pointed blade with central fuller, the handle with decorative ivory grip in a 'five bead' pattern guard with side ring and high urn finial, in a leather scabbard with steel mounts. There was a 1796 pattern dress or dismounted service sword and it has been suggested that this is the equivalent for the 1788 pattern heavy cavalry sword. 102cm overall.
A STUDENTS N.P.E.A. DRESS DAGGER AND SCABBARD BY BURGSMULLER. The 22cm pointed blade engraved 'Mehr sein als scheinen' (Be more than machines), marked to the reverse Karl Burgsmuller Charlottensburg 5. Berlin'. With a wooden handle set with an eagle and swastika, in an olive green scabbard with twin mounted chain and spring clip. The Nationalpolitische Erziehungsanstalt was an SS run educational institution to train future national leaders. 38cm overall. This example probably post second World War.
AN RAD DRESS HEWER AND SCABBARD BY E. F. HORSTER. The 24.5cm pointed and partially fullered blade engraved 'Arbeit adelt' (work is ennobling) marked for E & F Horster Solingen, with two part stag mounts to the handle and black finished scabbard with decorated plated mounts. The R.A.D. was the Reich Labour Service.
THE UNIFORMS OF A LIEUTENANT IN THE LIFE GUARDS. The uniforms comprising Battledress including a 1949 Pattern Blouse size 13, by H.Edgard and Sons, 1955, similar pattern trousers, size 13 by Mourne Clothing 1956 and a further blouse by G.R.Black 1955, all with Life Guards shoulder badges and No.1 Corps formation badges. Service Dress comprising jacket and trousers by Huntsman and Sons of Saville Row, Blues by the same tailor. The No.1 Corps was reformed in B.A.O.R. in 1951 at which date the Corps Sign of a white Spearhead on a scarlet diamond was readopted.
A No1 DRESS UNIFORM COLONEL'S CAP AND OTHER RELATED MILITARIA. A No1 Dress uniform cap for the rank of colonel with red band and gold braid applied peak, size 7 1/4, a Sam Brown belt by Peal & Co. London with shoulder strap and sword frog, brown leather gloves from moss bross, epaulettes, collar tags, belt, spurs and two badges.
AN INDIAN DEPARTMENTAL COMMISSIONERS UNIFORM. The uniform of Edward Selwyn Hoernle as Department Commissioners for the Bihar and Orissa Region. Comprising tail coat and trousers, the coat with elaborate silver thread collar, with a nine button front, the cuffs similarly decorated, the reverse with a central radiating foliate motif between further buttons and blind pocket flaps, the trousers with a broad gilt stripe with running oakleaf and acorn design. With a Pith Helmet with gilt tassel to the left and decorated chin strap, the interior with a label 'Waterproof Tropical Helmet' and a dress sword with 78cm blade and gilt handle. Provenance: The family of the original owner. See the preceding and following two lots for further items from this family. Edward Selwyn Hoernle (6/9/86 - 16/8/36) was born in Persia, his mother dying in child birth he was raised by his aunt, Educated at Winchester School and New College Oxford. He is recorded as a Lieutenant in the 1st Volunteer battalion of the Royal Hampshire Regiment with a seniority date of 28th July 1906. He took the civil service exams (Oct 19 1910) and entered the Indian Civil Service arriving in India on the 30th of November 1910. He moved to the Bihar and Orissa district in 1912 as acting under secretary to the government. Marrying Mabel Eden in 1913 the marriage to be later annulled. During the First World War he served from June 1917 as a Second Lieutenant (temporary Captain) 13/6/17 to January 1919 with the 2/90th Punjabis. From the 20th May 1920 he is recorded as a Lieutenant in the Chota Nagpur regiment. From 1924 he became the Department Commissioner for the Bihar and Orissa Region. He died of stomach cancer during a return journey to Great Britain on the 16th of August 1936, he was buried at sea and has a memorial in Gussage All Saints Churchyard.

A modern 9ct gold opal and diamond dress ring, set with pear cabochon opal and eight cut diamond shoulders, total diamond content approx 0.1ct, opal measures approx: 13.76 x 10.71 x 4.28mm, size R, 3.2gThe collet setting looks to have been added to the ring shank with an amendment on the back of the shank as well, 2 of the shoulder diamonds are missing, opal has a good play-of-colour exhibiting mostly greens and blues, part of the collet setting is pulling away from the opal, settings lightly abraded all over with obvious polishing/filing marks on the back of the shank and shoulders, hallmarks clear, engraved 375.

Vernietete Handhaben aus geflochtenem Strick mit Resten der textilen Ummantelung aus rotem Samt. Durchmesser 55 cm.Zustand: II -Condition Report:Metalloberfläche schauseitig mit dunkler Alterspatina. Die Goldeinlagen berieben, stellenweise kleine Fehlstellen. Die Oberflächen der Rückseite ungereinigt mit kräftiger, teils leicht korrodierter Patina. Am Rand anhaftend geringe Reste des ursprünglichen Lederfutters, die Haltegriffe mit Resten von rotem Samtbezug. A Milanese gold-inlaid roundel, Italy, circa 1560/70 Slightly domed, iron roundel with a spike riveted in the centre and a sturdy flange struck inwards. The entire surface covered in hammered, chiselled décor with fine gold inlays featuring a scene of warriors fighting in antique-style dress. A continuous border of chased bosses with geometric gold décor around the edge. The back covered with leather, the rivets with decorative rosettes in embossed brass. Riveted handles of braided rope with remnants of the textile wrapping in red velvet. Diameter 55 cm.Condition: II -Condition Report:The metal surface with a dark age patina on the front. The gold inlays rubbed, with small flaws in places. The rear surfaces uncleaned, with a substantial patina, slightly corroded in places. Scant traces of the original leather lining adhering to the edge, the handles with remnants of the red velvet cover.
AN ENGLISH ENAMEL SMALL BOX, SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE, CIRCA 1765 circular, painted with a roundel of a young woman in a pink dress surrounded by puce scrolls, the waisted sides with raised flower sprays, gilt-metal hinge mounts, collector's label to underside, 6cm diameter; together with two enamel patch boxes, South Staffordshire, 1770s, oval and with brass hinge mounts, one decorated with a bust of a fashionable young lady clutching a lap-dog, one painted with a young girl in a pink dress in rustic setting, 5.5cm longest (3) Provenance for first box: Gerald Poynton Mander (1886-1951), antiquarian and collector of Staffordshire enamels, according to label Collector's No. 202.
