V.The Buddhist angel (apsara in sanskrit) depicted in mid-flight, her celestial scarf and the tail feathers of her hagoromo (feather dress) swaying gracefully in the wind. Her hair is tied in a high chignon mounted by a chrysanthemum-tiara and she holds a lotus flower with both hands before her. Her facial features reflect her beauty and divineness as she smiles gracefully. The ivory bearing a lovely, warm, and lustrous patina. Good asymmetrical himotoshi through the underside, the larger oval hole generously excavated to accommodate the knot.LENGTH 7.2 cmCondition: Good condition with minor wear and few age cracks.
