John Smart (1741/2-1811) `Young Lady in a Pale Turquoise Dress` Watercolour on ivory, 5.5cm high (oval miniature) signed and dated lower right: JS/1787/I Footnote: The capital `I` beneath the date indicates that Smart painted this miniature in India, where he spent the years 1785-1795, mainly in Madras.

British School `Lady, Perhaps in Mourning Dress` Watercolour on ivory, 6.7 cm high (oval miniature), Footnote: There are two monograms, `MM` and `JM` on the plaited hair in the reverse of the frame. These suggest that the widow, if she is one, was painted as a marriage memorial. The date must be close to 1790.

Unidentified Miniaturist `Lady in a White and Blue Dress` Watercolour on ivory, 6 cm high (oval miniature) signed (in monogram) and dated lower right: TIR or JSR/1790 Footnote: The monogram signature is difficult to read and may differ from the suggestions above. The lady`s hair arrangement is unusual. She wears a thick grey wig over the strands of her own dark hair that fall on her shoulders. The costume suggests a date of about 1790.

Victorian Photograph Album. Landscape qto. album featuring a collection of original mounted photographs taken during the last decade of the 19th.C. A range of subjects are present including Cirencester dated 1890, Hastings 1891; others, undated but clearly of a similar date are Portsmouth Harbour, the '12th.Lancers', Longleat, various yachts off Hastings, Rye, Bettws-y-Coed and Llandudno. Clearly a holiday album compiled by competent amateur photographers ( J.L.Burgess & A.R. Canning amongst others ). Some photographs are untitled but feature a horse-drawn stage coach outside an hotel, fully laden with passengers and other scenes depicting people in contemporary dress, push chairs etc. An original item.
