Eleven fragments from a dress, in silk embroidery and silver brocade on silk damask ground, probably English early to mid 18th century. The superb quality of the embroidery suggests a professional embroiderer rather than purely domestic work. Sold as a collection of fragments with all faults not subject to return.

An Act to enlarge the Time limited by an Act.. for restraining the Use of the Highland Dress, 4pp, plus parliamentary session title?page, and 1746, 20 George II. An Act to prevent the Return of such Rebels and Traitors concerned in the late Rebellion, as have been, or shall be pardoned on Condition of Transportation, and also to hinder their going into the Enemies Country, 4pp, plus parliamentary session title?page, and four other Acts relating to the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745, all disbound, folio. Apart from the actions of "Butcher Cumberland", Parliament undertook a course of legislative Scots bashing at the end of the Forty?five, aimed at dismantling clan society and preventing any further insurrection in the Highlands. Amongst the totemic Acts passed were the new Disarming Act, the Heritable Jurisdictions Act, and the Tenure of Ward Holding Act, all present here. Other Acts concerned the punishment of rebels, and forfeiture of estates. (7)

Three loose albumen prints of fisherwomen with baskets on the seashore, late 19th c., all a little chipped and crease, one sl. split without loss, numbered in images, 64, 130 and 269, together with another albumen print showing two young girls in traditional dress standing high above a harbour, sl. torn at top corners, image n. 327(?), all initialled in the plate, approx. 15 x 20cm, plus another mounted albumen print by Sutcliffe(?), titled "There's Daddy", Poulton's Series, late 19th c., showing a woman holding a young girl and pointing out to sea, approx. 29 x 19 cm (5)
