Neumann, Hoflieferaut (Purveyor to the Court) Berlin” along the back edge, false damascus to lower half of blade, elaborate gilt hilt with crossguard and quillon, langets, knucklebow, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, with ornamental panels and foliate devices overall, and coat of arms to centre of knucklebow, wirebound fishskin grip, with its steel scabbard with 2 brass bands and rings, retaining a little original plating (light surface rust). Generally Very Good Condition, retaining most original gilt. Plate 19

A William IV 1822 pattern infantry officer’s sword, slightly curved, pipe backed blade 32", well etched on both sides in panel with crowned reversed and interlaced WR cypher with “IV” and wreath, and at forte on both sides with “Prosser Maker to the King & Royal Family, London” in frosted panel, brass hilt retaining a little original gilt, incorporating crowned WR IV cypher, with turn down inner portion, stepped pommel, foliate backstrap with thumbpiece, wirebound, fishskin grip, original dress knot (worn), in its brown leather scabbard, with engraved locket and frog stud, and chape, with traces of gilt. Good Condition Plate 19
