George V Kings Own Scottish Borderers Officers Basket Hilt Broad Sword with Additional Field Officers Ceremonial Guard and Ceremonial Scabbard by Wilkinson Sword, Basket hilt with the original red fronted buff interior cover and crimson tassels. Grip retains the original wire binding. Double edged blade with central fuller. Blade is etched with thistles, royal cipher and regimental badge of the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. Forte is etched with Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall and edge is stamped 57093. Sword is housed in its original brown leather covered scabbard. Sword is accompanied by the original metal dress scabbard and also the original field officers ceremonial guard which has finely cut out design of thistles and central KOSB castle badge with motto NISI DOMINUS FRUSTRA. Ceremonial guard also retains the buff interior covering. Two small drill holes to the reverse of the scabbards, where they were mounted for many years but otherwise a very nice complete set.

An Elizabeth II naval dress sword, by Wilkinson Sword, Serial No. 98034, with leather and brass scabbard. Overall length 95 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The blade is straight and not bent. It is in good condition on both sides and there is no evidence of any rust. The gilding to the hilt is generally very good on both sides of the sword with only very minor discolouration in places. The majority of the gilding on the scabbard fittings is rubbed. This is particularly the case on the top two fittings. The gilding is approximately 50% complete on the bottom fitting. The leather scabbard itself is in generally good order but does have some crease marks but no losses or tears.
A garniture of five 18th century Delft vases, blue and white, three lidded, each decorated with a Chinoiserie scene, each initialled "P". Tallest 35 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Both of the vases without lids have had professional restoration to the top rims. This is evidenced by overpainting. Both vases have their usual nibbles to the top rims and foot rims. One has a glaze chip to the dress of the female figure. The three lidded vases all have glaze nibbles to the foot rims, the top lips and lids. One has had no restoration to either the lid or the base. There are no viable hairline cracks. The second vase has more substantial chips to the foot and top rims and various hairline cracks visible to the inside of the vase. The third vase has had professional restoration to the body evidenced by overspray. The vase seems to have been broken into several pieces which is evident more from the inside than the exterior.
A collectors' doll, Mandy by Rubert 1992 of The Doll Artworks. Height approximately 66 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This doll is in first class condition with no damage, no repairs and no restoration. We cannot see any evidence of any hairline cracks and both the dress and bonnet are also in very good condition.

Officer has foxing spots to the right of his cheek. Dirt under the glass.
Follower of Daniel Mytens the Elder (Dutch, 1590-1648) Portrait of a lady wearing pearls in her hair, a pearl necklace, and a black and pink dress oil on oak panel 38 x 30cm (15 x 12in) Provenance: From a Sussex country house Panel formed from two boards in vertical alignment. Bottom of the back securing panel join. Paint is slightly raised along the join, but generally paint layer is stable. Scattered areas of retouching, mainly along bottom edge of panel. Varnish is even and glossy. Small chips and losses to frame. Painting would benefit from better fitting in frame. Remains of a red wax seal to the reverse.

Generally in good condition, a few scattered losses to paint layer. Small areas of retouching - notably to old damage in lower right corner. Varnish is clear, slightly yellowed but even. Craquelure overall. One tiny spot of paint loss along the bottom edge.
Circle of Jean-Honore Fragonard (French, 1732-1806) A young girl in a blue and pink dress carving her lover's initials into a tree oil on canvas, in a gilt frame 30 x 23cm (12 x 9in) Provenance: From a Bedfordshire country house Lined canvas. Paint layer is in good condition overall. Varnish is semi-glossy and evenly saturating painting. Surface dirt present. Small losses to decoration on frame but generally fine. Would benefit from new varnish.

Some losses, chips and scratches to the frame .
Circle of Édouard Manet (French, 1832-1883) Portrait of a young girl in a black dress with lace collar, wearing a jet brooch and earrings oil on canvas, in a carved frame 29 x 23cm (11 x 9in) Provenance: Acquired by the vendor, a dealer in Old Master paintings, St James's, London, 1960, and thence within the family Other Notes: This beautiful study of a young girl has variously been attributed to a variety of distinguished artists, but tantalisingly has not yet been positively identified. Possibly lined but it is difficult to be certain. Dark background has been retouched/repainted. (photo of original version available). Painting is in good condition - varnish is clear, glossy and even. A few losses to the frame surface.
Thomas Jones Barker (British, 1815-1882) Portrait of Miss Chisholm of Stirches House, Hawick, in the Scottish Borders, on her grey Highland pony 'Punch', with her black retriever beside her signed lower left "Thos. Jones Barker" oil on canvas 120 x 85cm (47 x 33in) Other Notes: Stirches House, Hawick, was built by the Chisholm family in 1503. It is now a care home for the elderly. The family also owned Chisholm House in the Scottish borders which was built in 1752 and is set in an estate of nearly 200 acres. It was once the seat of the head of the southern branch of Clan Chisholm but went out of the family possession in the early part of the 20th Century. Thomas Jones Barker is known as a portrait and military history painter. His first work to be exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts was a scene from the Napoleonic Wars. He went on to paint, from the battlefields, the Franco Prussian War of 1870. He was a prolific portrait painter, in particular of Scottish famillies, but was also commissioned to paint Queen Victoria. His work can be found in public collections, including the National Portrait Gallery. Unlined canvas. A few canvas patches on the reverse of the bottom half of canvas, mending old damages. Canvas is slightly slack, stretcher bar marks starting to show, most notably horizontally across middle of painting. A few undulations to the canvas. paint layer is stable. Areas of retouching, including to the sitter's face and dress. Varnish is glossy and even. Losses to decoration moulding on frame. Unlined. Two old repaired tears. Old gilt frame has chips and losses.
