MINNIE JANE HARDMAN (nee SHUBROOK) b.1867 - Portrait of a young woman, head and shoulders, wearing a white dress with velvet collar, signed M J Shubrook 1886, oil on canvas, 38cms x 30cms This is an early work by Hardman before she married, hence the signature, she studied at RA Schools and was a portrait and flower painter
Phoebe Anna Traquair HRSA (1852-1936), An enamel and gold pendant decorated with a classical female figure in diaphanous dress dancing amongst flowers on a red ground mounted with two oval foliate drops, the reverse signed 'PAT' and dated 1917, 7.5cm long, A more elaborate necklace of this date is on show in the Museum of Scotland. That necklace has five plaques white are a mix of Christian and Classical subjects, such as Cupid the Earth Upholder. A late enamelled chalice of 1917-18 is also with The N.M.S. HOWARD BARRON (1900-1991) - Portrait of Mrs G H K Thorogood wearing a floral pattern turquoise dress seated by a window overlooking a coastal bay, signed, oils on canvas, 36" x 28". The work is sold together with copy of the original purchase invoice and a letter to Mr Thorogood from the Hans Galleries, 40 Duke Street, St.James's, London also concerning the work.
